Approaches to Designing Digital Circuits with the Current-mode Gates

The paper deals with the problem of designing digital circuits with the current-mode gates novel digital gates operating with constant, continuous power supply current. The purpose is the provision of a high level of the noise immunity of the chips which compose both analog and digital circuits. The logical identities of the current-mode logic and expressions to the conversion of the Boolean functions to the current-mode ones are represented. Based on these properties and expressions, the approaches to minimizing the current logic functions and to designing digital current – mode circuits are proposed. Based on these approaches, the functional schemes of some current adder circuits were designed. The obtained circuits are characterized by smaller (up to 35%) hardware overheads in comparison with the similar circuits based on the classical voltage type of gates.
