چکیده

We present results of a new deep 1.1 mm survey using Bolocam, a millimeterwavelength bolometer array camera designed for mapping large fields at fast scan rates, without chopping. A map, galaxy candidate list, and derived number counts are presented. This survey encompasses 324 arcmin to an rms noise level (filtered for point sources) of σ1.1mm ≃ 1.4 mJy beam and includes the entire regions surveyed by the published 8 mJy 850 μm JCMT SCUBA and 1.2 mm IRAM MAMBO surveys. We reduced the data using a custom software pipeline to remove correlated sky and instrument noise via a principal component analysis. Extensive simulations and jackknife tests were performed to confirm the robustness of our source candidates and estimate the effects of false detections, bias, and completeness. In total, 17 source candidates were detected at a significance ≥ 3.0 σ, with six expected false detections. Nine candidates are new detections, while eight candidates have coincident SCUBA 850 μm and/or MAMBO 1.2 mm detections. From our observed number counts, we estimate the underlying differential number count distribution of submillimeter galaxies and find it to be in general agreement with previous surveys. Modeling the spectral energy distributions of these submillimeter galaxies after observations of dusty nearby galaxies suggests extreme luminosities of L = (1.0 − 1.6) × 10 L⊙ and, if powered by star formation, star formation rates of 500− 800 M⊙yr. A 1200μm MAMBO survey of ELAIS N2 and the Lockman Hole: I. Maps, sources and number counts

We present a deep, new 1200μm survey of the ELAIS N2 and Lockman Hole fields using the Max Planck Millimeter Bolometer array (MAMBO). The areas surveyed are 160 arcmin in ELAIS N2 and 197 arcmin in the Lockman Hole, covering the entire SCUBA ‘8 mJy Survey’. In total, 27 (44) sources have been detected at a significance ≥4.0σ (≥3.5σ). The primary goals of the survey were to investigate the relia...

A 1200 μm MAMBO Survey of the ELAISN2 and Lockman Hole East Fields

Using the MPIfR Max Planck Millimeter Bolometer array (MAMBO) on the IRAM 30m Telescope we have mapped the ELAISN2 and Lockman Hole East Fields at 1200μm to a rms noise level of 0.8−1.0mJy per 11′′ beam. The areas surveyed are 326 arcmin in the ELAISN2 field and 212 arcmin in the Lockman Hole, and cover the 260 arcmin previously observed by SCUBA [5]. The 1200μm number counts derived from the s...

ISOPHOT 95 μ m observations in the Lockman Hole

We report results from a new analysis of a deep 95 µm imaging survey with ISOPHOT on board the Infrared Space Observatory, over a ∼1 deg 2 area within the Lockman Hole, which extends the statistics of our previous study (Rodighiero et al. 2003). Within the survey area we detect sixty-four sources with S/N> 3 (roughly corresponding to a flux limit of 16 mJy). Extensive simulations indicate that ...

A Fluctuation Analysis of the Bolocam 1.1mm Lockman Hole Survey

We perform a fluctuation analysis of the 1.1mm Bolocam Lockman Hole Survey, which covers 324 arcmin2 to a very uniform point source-filtered RMS noise level of σ ≃ 1.4 mJy beam−1. The fluctuation analysis has the significant advantage of utilizing all of the available data, since no extraction of sources is performed: direct comparison is made between the observed pixel flux density distributio...

ISO deep far-infrared survey in the “Lockman Hole” II. Power spectrum analysis: evidence of a strong evolution in number counts

We investigate the characteristics of FIR brightness fluctuations at 90 μm and 170 μm in the Lockman Hole, which were surveyed with ISOPHOT aboard the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO). We first calculated the angular correlation function of each field and then its Fourier transform (the angular Power Spectral Density: PSD) over the spatial frequency range of f = 0.05–1 arcmin−1. The PSDs are fo...
