چکیده
We consider intersections in eleven dimensions involving Kaluza-Klein monopoles and Brinkmann waves. Besides these purely gravitational configurations we also construct solutions to the equations of motion that involve additional M2-and M5-branes. The maximal number of independent objects in these intersections is nine, and such maximal configurations, when reduced to two dimensions, give rise to a zero-brane solution with dilaton coupling a = −4/9.

متن کاملTowards the Classification of Non-Marginal Bound States of M-branes and Their Construction Rules
We present a systematic analysis of possible bound states of M-brane solutions (including waves and monopoles) by using the solution generating technique of reduction of M-brane to 10 dimensions, use of T-duality and then lifting back to 11 dimensions. We summarize a list of bound states for oneand two-charge cases including tilted brane solutions. Construction rules for these non-marginal solu...
متن کاملTopologically non-trivial configurations in 3-dimensional Yang-Mills theory
Monopoles are expected to play an important role in confining quarks in QCD. In lattice simulations, one usually looks for U(1) monopoles by fixing an Abelian gauge [1]. However it is important to have a gauge invariant way of detecting monopoles in non-Abelian gauge theories. In a recent paper [2] Anishetty, Majumdar and Sharatchandra have given a criterion for characterizing topologically non...
متن کاملDynamics of intersecting brane systems – Classification and their applications –
We present dynamical intersecting brane solutions in higher-dimensional gravitational theory coupled to dilaton and several forms. Assuming the forms of metric, form fields, and dilaton field, we give a complete classification of dynamical intersecting brane solutions with/without M-waves and Kaluza-Klein monopoles in eleven-dimensional supergravity. We apply these solutions to cosmology and bl...
متن کاملPolarization of the Microwave Background in Defect Models
We compute the polarization power spectra for global strings, monopoles, textures and nontopological textures, and compare them to inflationary models. We find that topological defect models predict a significant (∼ 1μK) contribution to magnetic type polarization on degree angular scales, which is produced by the large vector component of the defect source. We also investigate the effect of dec...
