Venous Hum in a Case of Splenic Anæmia with Portal Obstruction

چکیده
an alcoholic soldier. Cruveilhier (1835) later reported this case and Trousseau (1868) gave the first good description of the condition. In Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome where there is hepatic atrophy with a little fibrosis and patent umbilical vein, venous hum has occasionally been heard in the umbilical-xiphoid region. Armstrong and his associates (1942) suggest that Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome should be reserved to cases showing portal hypertension characterized by a loud abdominal murmur and thrill. Cases in addition to those referred by Armstrong et al. (1942) have been reported by Hall (1922, 1937), Lemierre and Garcin (1930), Bates (1937), Kenawy (1937, 1939) and Bloom (1950).

Epiploic gonadal vein as a new bypass route for extrahepatic portal venous obstruction: report of a case
A 61-year-old man was referred to our hospital to treat extrahepatic portal venous obstruction. Endoscopic injection sclerotherapy (EIS) was performed for the esophageal varices; however, the patient returned with massive hematemesis from gastric varices 6 months after treatment. Although the varices were treated with EIS, gastric devascularization and splenectomy concomitant with shunt surgery...
متن کاملRare, spontaneous trans-splenic shunt and intra-splenic collaterals with attendant splenic artery aneurysms in an adult patient with compensated cirrhosis and portal hypertension
We present a rare case of spontaneous trans-splenic shunt and intra-splenic collaterals in a patient with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. The shunt and presence of cirrhosis and portal hypertension was incidentally detected by abdominal computed tomographic imaging during evaluation for abdominal pain. There has been a single report on the presence of trans-splenic shunt in two childre...

tor of the liver was identified as an aberrant coronary vein ( fig. 1 ). A superior mesenteric arterioportogram revealed portal vein obstruction, resulting in portal blood flowing back to the right gastroepiploic and splenic veins. Venous blood of the lesser curvature then drained into the left portal system via the aberrant coronary vein ( fig. 2 ). Cavernous transformation of the portal vein ...
متن کاملSplenic Artery Aneurysm Presenting as Extrahepatic Portal Vein Obstruction: A Case Report
Splenic artery aneurysms are the most common visceral aneurysm occuring predominantly in females. They are usually asymptomatic, and the symptomatic presentation includes chronic abdominal pain of varied severity or an acute rupture with hypotension. Splenic artery aneurysm causing extrahepatic portal hypertension is very rare and is due to splenic vein thrombosis that develops secondary to com...
متن کاملPortal hypertension resulting from splenic arteriovenous fistulae.
Portal hypertension is commonly due to obstruction to portal blood flow either within the liver as in cirrhosis, or within the portal vein, as from thrombosis. In recent years, however, reports have multiplied of portal hypertension in the absence of both intrahepatic and extrahepatic obstruction (Rousselot, 1940; Whipple, 1945; Hallenbeck and Shocket, 1957; Tisdale, Klatstin, and Glenn, 1959; ...
