Prediction of VO2 Peak Using Sub-Maximum Bench Step Test in Children
نویسندگان
چکیده
The purpose of this study was to develop a valid prediction of maximal oxygen uptake from data collected during a submaximum bench stepping test among children ages 8-12 years. Twentyseven active subjects (16 male and 11 female), weight 36.1 kg, height 144.4 cm and VO2 47.4 ± 7.9 ml/kg/min participated. Subjects completed a maximal oxygen consumption test with analysis of expired air and a submaximal bench stepping test. A formula to predict VO2max was developed from height, resting heart rate and heart rate response during the submaximum bench stepping test. This formula accounted for 71% of the variability in maximal oxygen consumption and is the first step in verifying the validity of the submaximum bench stepping test to predict VO2max. VO2 max = -2.354 + (Height in cm * 0.065) + (Resting Heart Rate * 0.008) + (Step Test Average Heart Rate as a Percentage of Resting Heart Rate * -0.870)

Prediction of Seismic Wave Intensity Generated by Bench Blasting Using Intelligence Committee Machines
In large open pit mines prediction of Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) provides useful information for safe blasting. At Sungun Copper Mine (SCM), some unstable rock slopes facing to valuable industrial facilities are both expose to high intensity daily blasting vibrations, threatening their safty. So, controlling PPV by developing accurate predictors is essential. Hence, this study proposes improv...
متن کاملValidity and reliability of the Chester step test for prediction of the aerobic capacity among Iranian students
Background: Assessment of aerobic capacity is of vital importance in both general community and occupational settings. Valid, reliable and feasible tests are required to indicate the functionality of cardiopulmonary system. The present study was carried out aiming to evaluate the suitability of the Chester step test (CST) as a field test to measure the Iranians’ aerobic capacity. Materials ...
متن کاملAdapting the "Chester step test" to predict peak oxygen uptake in children.
AIM OF THE STUDY Maximal exercise testing may be difficult to perform in clinical practice, especially in obese children who have low cardiorespiratory fitness and exercise tolerance. We aimed to elaborate a model predicting peak oxygen consumption (VO2) in lean and obese children with use of the submaximal Chester step test. METHODS We performed a maximal step test, which consisted of 2-minu...
متن کاملCardiorespiratory Responses and Prediction of Peak Oxygen Uptake during the Shuttle Walking Test in Healthy Sedentary Adult Men
BACKGROUND The application of the Shuttle Walking Test (SWT) to assess cardiorespiratory fitness and the intensity of this test in healthy participants has rarely been studied. This study aimed to assess and correlate the cardiorespiratory responses of the SWT with the cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CEPT) and to develop a regression equation for the prediction of peak oxygen uptake (VO2 peak...
متن کاملA multistage field test of wheelchair users for evaluation of fitness and prediction of peak oxygen consumption.
An incremental multistage field test (MFT) for wheelchair users was developed to evaluate physical fitness and predict peak oxygen consumption (VO2). Using auditory feedback, the participants (n = 37) were directed to wheel around an octagonal course, increasing their velocity every minute until exhaustion. Wheelchair velocity and metabolic parameters were recorded with the use of a speedometer...
