چکیده

________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract The study tested the performance of intact male pigs from a selected genetic line subjected to differing feeding regimens and penning conditions. The trial was a 2 x 3 x 2 x 3 factorial design, consisting of winter and summer periods, three sire lines, two diets and three feeding regimens. The pigs were intact males grown over three phases, starter (25 to 50 kg); grower (51 to 80 kg) and finisher (81 to 105 kg).The pigs were randomly allocated to three feeding regimens, a controlled single feeding, ad libitum single feeding and ad libitum group feeding, with six animals per ad libitum group. This resulted in 96 pigs in six treatments with six replicates. The diets were high (HF) and low (LF) nutrient dense feeds, where the LF was 95% of the HF. Season affected growth; the winter animals had a significantly greater growth response, end-mass and average daily gain (ADG). The HF diet resulted in significant improved ADG, feed conversion ratio and protein deposition rate, especially during summer. However, end-mass, ADG and average protein deposition rates of controlled-fed pigs were significantly lower compared to the ad libitum group and single-fed animals. The hypothesis was affirmed that high-performing intact male pigs are sensitive to and affected by feeding regimens and penning conditions that will affect their production. _______________________________________________________________________________________

The effects of different levels of biogen probiotic additives on growth indices and body composition of juvenile common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.)

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of biogen probiotic additives on growth performance of common carp, Cyprinus carpio. Four practical diets containing 0 (control) , 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 % Biogen probiotic were used to feed fish. Seventy-two juvenile common carp (65 ? 3.5g) were randomly distributed between 12 fiberglass tanks of 500 L capacity. During 60 days of feeding trial, the...

Effects of supplementary feeding on growth and carcass characteristics of fat-tailed lambs grazing cereal stubble

Despite a shortage of animal feed in Iran, cereal stubble is often underutilized due to agro-economic reasons. On the other hand, lambs fed with a conventional fattening ration deposit a considerable amount of fat; therefore, this experiment was conducted aimed at better utilization of cereal stubble and reducing the fat content of lamb carcasses. Fat-tailed Mehraban and Ghezel ram lambs were p...

Effects of mass selection for increased weight at two ages on growth rate and carcass composition of Duroc-Landrace pigs.

Duroc boars from a line previously selected over five generations for 200-d weight and those from a randomly selected control line were mated to Landrace sows either from a line previously selected for increased 70-d weight or from a randomly selected pedigree control line. From these matings, 900 pigs were farrowed to examine the effects of crossing lines of pigs mass selected for weight at tw...

Effect of Rearing at Different Densities and Dietary Supplementation with Vitamin E on Growth Indices, Survival and Carcass Composition in Fingerling Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of rearing at differing densities and dietary supplementation with vitamin E on growth indices, survival and carcass composition in fingerling rainbow trout in a 6-week trial. Rainbow trout juveniles with initial body weight of 9.6 ± 0. 69 g at two densities of 50 and 100 pieces per 50 liter were fed two diets with the same protein and fat cont...
