IGCC Technology — Bituminous Coal IGCC With and Without CCS

چکیده
Six Integrated Gasifi cation Combined-Cycle (IGCC) power plant confi gurations operating on bituminous coal were evaluated and the results are presented in this summary sheet. All cases were analyzed on the same basis, using a consistent set of assumptions and analytical tools. Each gasifi er type was assessed with and without carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). The individual confi gurations are as follows: GE Energy (GEE) IGCC plant. GEE IGCC plant with CCS. ConocoPhillips (CoP) E-GasTM IGCC plant. CoP IGCC plant with CCS. Shell IGCC plant. Shell IGCC plant with CCS.

Cost and performance of fossil fuel power plants with CO2 capture and storage
CO2 capture and storage (CCS) is receiving considerable attention as a potential greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation option for fossil fuel power plants. Cost and performance estimates for CCS are critical factors in energy and policy analysis. CCS cost studies necessarily employ a host of technical and economic assumptions that can dramatically affect results. Thus, particular studies often are of...
متن کاملA Parametric Investigation of Integrated Gasification Combined Cycles with Carbon Capture
IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) technology is being developed to enable electricity to be generated at high efficiency and low emissions. Continuous improvement is essential to make IGCC reliable and costeffective. As environmental concerns over carbon emissions escalate, development of a practical carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology has become an important issue. Combinin...
متن کاملBaseload coal investment decisions under uncertain carbon legislation.
More than 50% of electricity in the U.S. is generated by coal. The U.S. has large coal resources, the cheapest fuel in most areas. Coal fired power plants are likely to continue to provide much of U.S. electricity. However, the type of power plant that should be built is unclear. Technology can reduce pollutant discharges and capture and sequester the CO2 from coal-fired generation. The U.S. En...
متن کاملCoal’s Medium-Run Future Under Atmospheric Greenhouse Gas Stabilization
We assess the future of coal under alternative climate stabilization regimes, investigating how the quantity and location of future coal production, trade and use depends upon five factors: the supply-side constraint of resource depletion, diversification and deepening of international trade, economic growth, trends in energy intensity, and the availability of coal-fired carbon-free electric ge...
متن کاملCo2 Control Technology Effects on Igcc Plant Performance and Cost
As part of the USDOE’s Carbon Sequestration Program, an integrated modeling framework has been developed to evaluate the performance and cost of alternative carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies for fossil-fueled power plants in the context of multi-pollutant control requirements. This paper uses the newly developed model of an integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plant to anal...
