چکیده

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of environmental temperature, humidity and methods to dry the etched enamel surface on the adhesive strength of dental adhesive resin Panavia EX '. The findings were as follows 1. Though temperature and humidity in oral cavity were higher than 30•Ž and 81% respectively, they were significantly different from site to site. 2. By rubber dam application, temperature and humidity in oral cavity decreased markedly. By sucking air with vacuum in addition to rubber dam application, both decreased still more. 3. When vacuum was used, there were no statistically significant differences in temperature and humidity among applications of rubber dum, mini-dam, and cotton roll with clamp. 4. The higher were both of environmental temperature and humidity, the more was the tensile adhesive strength reduced. However, since the adhesive strength was not influenced singly by temperature or by humidity, it is suggested that the adhesive strength is influenced by absolute moisture volume. 5. Drying time on the etched-enamel surface influenced the adhesive strength significantly whatever environmental temperature and humidity are. It seems that at least 15 seconds are needed to dry the etched-enamel surface sufficiently with air syringe. 6. It was hardly effective for increasing the adhesive strength to dry the etched-enamel surface with alcohol and to increase the temperature and pressure of compressed air.

Shear bond strength evaluation of resin composite to resin-modified glass-ionomer cement using three different resin adhesives vs. glass-ionomer based adhesive

Background: The clinical success of sandwich technique depends on the strength of resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) bonding to both dentin and resin composite. Therefore, the shear bond strength (SBS) of resin composite bonded to RMGIC utilizing different resin adhesives versus a GIC-based adhesive was compared. Materials and methods: In this in vitro study, 84 holes (5×2 mm) were pre...

Effect of Chlorhexidine Application on Bond Durability of a Filled-Adhesive System

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) application on immediate and two-month bond strength of a filled adhesive system. Methods: Forty eight non-carious human third molars without enamel of occlusal surface were randomly divided into two main groups according to CHX application: control and CHX. Each main group was further subdivided into 2 subgroups depending ...

Tooth surface treatment strategies for adhesive cementation

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of tooth surface pre-treatment steps on shear bond strength, which is essential for understanding the adhesive cementation process. MATERIALS AND METHODS Shear bond strengths of different cements with various tooth surface treatments (none, etching, priming, or etching and priming) on enamel and dentin of human teeth were measured using...

Comparison of Shear Bond Strength of Composite Restorations to Intact Enamel of Primary Incisors When Using Different Conditioners and Adhesive Systems

Introdouction: Esthetic demands of patients have led to the introduction of tooth-colored restorations wherecomposite resins are bonded to the enamel using acid etch techniques. Total etch adhesion systems are still considered as the gold standard among bonding systems. However, clinicians have a tendency to use adhesive systems with simpler application procedures. The aim of the present stu...
