Theoretical Aspects of Dark Matter Detection

چکیده

Direct and indirect dark matter detection relies on the scattering of the dark matter candidate on nucleons or nuclei. Here, attention is focused on dark matter candidates (neutralinos) predicted in the minimal supersymmetric standard model and its constrained version with universal input soft supersymmetry-breaking masses. Current expectations for elastic scattering cross sections for neutralinos on protons are discussed with particular attention to satisfying all current accelerator constraints as well as insuring a sufficient cosmological relic density to account for the dark matter in the Universe. hep-ph/0106148 CERN–TH/2001-153 UMN–TH–2012/01, TPI–MINN–01/28

Non-relativistic effective theory of dark matter direct detection

Dark matter direct detection searches for signals coming from dark matter scattering against nuclei at a very low recoil energy scale ∼ 10 keV. In this paper, a simple non-relativistic effective theory is constructed to describe interactions between dark matter and nuclei without referring to any underlying high energy models. It contains the minimal set of operators that will be tested by dire...

Gamma-ray Signatures of Dark Matter Particles

Indirect detection methods of dark matter particles are discussed. In particular, detection of supersymmetric dark matter through annihilation into gamma-rays is described. Aspects of the density structure of dark matter halos, important for estimating the chances of detection, are discussed. A new class of dark matter candidates, related to non-vanishing neutrinos masses and seemingly only det...

Direct Detection of Dark Matter Particles

Experimental observations and theoretical arguments have pointed out that a large part of the Universe is composed by Dark Matter particles. This motivates experimental efforts to investigate the direct detection of these particles with detectors placed in underground laboratories. In this paper a short review of some used techniques will be presented. Particular care will be given to the resul...

Status and perspectives of indirect and direct dark matter searches

In this review article the current status of particle dark matter is addressed. We discuss the main theoretical extensions of the standard model which allow to explain dark matter in terms of a (yet undiscovered) elementary particle. We then discuss the theoretical predictions for the searches of particle dark matter: direct detection in low background underground experiments and indirect detec...

Indirect Detection of Neutralino Dark Matter

Dark matter detection experiments are getting ever closer to the sensitivity needed to detect the primary particle physics candidates for nonbaryonic dark matter. Indirect detection methods include searching for antimatter and gamma rays, in particular gamma ray lines, in cosmic rays and high-energy neutrinos from the centre of the Earth or Sun caused by accretion and annihilation of dark matte...
