چکیده

In all-optical networks, signals are propagated through switches with no electrical regeneration. The switches used in all-optical networks are prone to signal leaking; due to the absence of electrical regeneration, these leaked signals, called crosstalk signals, may therefore propagate through hundreds to several thousands of kilometers. Crosstalk may be enhanced by fiber nonlinearities during the propagation, hence severely impairing network performance. In this paper, we develop a routing and wavelength assignment algorithm for transparent optical networks that incorporates the effects of this com-

A Novel Protection Guaranteed, Quality of Transmission Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for All-optical Networks

Transparent All Optical Networks carry huge traffic and any link failure can cause the loss of gigabits of data; hence protection and its guarantee becomes necessary at the time of failure. Many protection schemes were presented in the literature, but none of them speaks about protection guarantee. Also, in all optical networks, due to absence of  regeneration capabilities, the physical layer i...

Review of routing and wavelength assignment problem

In today’s internet world there is a growing demand of network bandwidth. Where traditional copper fibers offer very less bandwidth, optical fibers can offer very lager bandwidth. So, there is a growing sense of using optical fibers. Optical networks generally use wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technique, which is the backbone of future generation internet. In WDM networks fibers are lo...

Fuzzy Controlled Dynamic QoT Routing and Wavelength Assignment in Transparent Optical Networks

In a transparent optical network, a transmitted signal remains in the optical domain over the entire route (lightpath) assigned to it between its source and destination nodes. In this paper, a novel Fuzzy dynamic routing and wavelength assignment technique is proposed for a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical network, to achieve the best quality of network transmission and network se...

Highly Nonlinear Dual Core Photonic Crystal Fiber with Low Confinement Loss at 1.55μm Wavelength

A novel design of Dual-Core Photonic Crystal Fiber (DC-PCF) with silica-air microstructures is proposed in this paper. Nonlinearity and confinement loss of DC-PCF are evaluated by using a Full-Vectorial Finite Element Method (FV-FEM) successfully. By optimizing the geometry of three ring DC-PCFs, a high nonlinearity (52w-1km-1) and low confinement loss (0.001dB/km) can be achieved at 1.55μm wav...

Impact of Transmission Impairments on the Teletraffic Performance of Wavelength-Routed Optical Networks

In a wavelength-routed optical network, a transmitted signal remains in the optical domain over the entire route (lightpath) assigned to it between its source and destination nodes. The optical signal may have to traverse a number of crossconnect switches (XCS’s), fiber segments, and optical amplifiers, e.g., erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA’s). Thus, while propagating through the network, t...
