چکیده

Background In MRI, fat signal suppression is mandatory for unambiguous visualization of cardiac anatomy but remains challenging at high field. Fat saturation usually directly precedes the imaging portion of a cardiac MRI sequence. It is often used in conjunction with other magnetization preparation modules, such as T2 Preparation (or T2-Prep), to improve blood/myocardium contrast. We propose a waterselective, adiabatic T2-Prep that combines T2-weighting with an intrinsic fat signal attenuation. Preliminary in vivo results are discussed.

B1-insensitive T2 preparation for improved coronary magnetic resonance angiography at 3 T.

At 3 T, the effective wavelength of the RF field is comparable to the dimension of the human body, resulting in B1 standing wave effects and extra variations in phase. This effect is accompanied by an increase in B0 field inhomogeneity compared to 1.5 T. This combination results in nonuniform magnetization preparation by the composite MLEV weighted T2 preparation (T2 Prep) sequence used for cor...

A Cylindrical, Inner Volume Selecting 2D-T2-Prep Improves GRAPPA-Accelerated Image Quality in MRA of the Right Coronary Artery

BACKGROUND Two-dimensional (2D) spatially selective radiofrequency (RF) pulses may be used to excite restricted volumes. By incorporating a "pencil beam" 2D pulse into a T2-Prep, one may create a "2D-T2-Prep" that combines T2-weighting with an intrinsic outer volume suppression. This may particularly benefit parallel imaging techniques, where artefacts typically originate from residual foldover...

A fat suppressed adiabatic T2-preparation module for 3T

Background A recently developed T2-preparation module for cardiac imaging at high field is insensitive to B0 and B1 inhomogeneity, cardiac motion and flow. Obtained T2 weighted images exhibit bright fat signal that can obscure the signal of myocardium and other muscles. Therefore, a chemical selective saturation (CHESS) is usually applied for fat suppression after the T2-preparation, e.g. in co...

Coronary mra angiography at 3T: fat suppression versus water-fat separation

Background Suppression of lipid signal is a basic requirement in coronary magnetic resonance angiography (CMRA) because coronary arteries are embedded in epicardial fat and signal from fat can decrease coronary vessel conspicuity. Most CMRA scans are currently performed with fat suppression techniques such as Spectral Presaturation with Inversion Recovery (SPIR). However, methods based on spect...
