چکیده

Rumour spreading is a protocol for modelling the spread of information through a network via user-to-user interaction. The Spatial Preferred Attachment (SPA) model is a random graph model for complex networks: vertices are placed in a metric space, and the link probability depends on the metric distance between vertices, and on their degree. We show that the SPA model typically produces graphs that have small effective diameter, i.e. O(log n), while rumour spreading is relatively slow, namely polynomial in n.

Modeling spatial social complex networks for dynamical processes

The study of social networks — where people are located, geographically, and how they might be connected to one another — is a current hot topic of interest, because of its immediate relevance to important applications, from devising efficient immunization techniques for the arrest of epidemics, to the design of better transportation and city planning paradigms, to the understanding of how rumo...

Competitive Rumour Spread in Social Networks

We consider a setting in which two firms compete to spread rumors in a social network. Firms seed their rumors simultaneously and rumors propagate according to the linear threshold model. Using the concept of cascade centrality introduced by [19], we provide a sharp characterization of networks that admit pure-strategy Nash equilibria (PSNE). We provide tight bounds for the efficiency of these ...

Why Rumors Spread Fast in Social Networks

Understanding structural and algorithmic properties of complex networks is an important task, not least because of the huge impact of the internet. Our focus is to analyze how news spreads in social networks. We simulate a simple information spreading process in different network topologies and demonstrate that news spreads much faster in existing social network topologies. We support this find...

Immunization against the Spread of Rumors in Homogenous Networks

Since most rumors are harmful, how to control the spread of such rumors is important. In this paper, we studied the process of "immunization" against rumors by modeling the process of rumor spreading and changing the termination mechanism for the spread of rumors to make the model more realistic. We derived mean-field equations to describe the dynamics of the rumor spread. By carrying out stead...

Global Challenge of Health Communication: Infodemia in the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Pandemic

Dear Editor The international community has been faced with one of the most critical health conditions in recent decades due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic which experience hundreds of thousands of infected cases and tens of thousands of deaths. Alongside of COVID-19 pandemic we have been faced a new phenomenon of "Infodemic" or “epidemic of false information” about COVID-19. C...
