چکیده

This article examines the time-dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) approximation of single-particle dynamics in systems of interacting fermions. We find the TDHF approximation to be accurate when there are sufficiently many particles and the initial manyparticle state is a Slater determinant, or any Gibbs equilibrium state for noninteracting fermions. Assuming a bounded two-particle interaction, we obtain a bound on the error of the TDHF approximation, valid for short times. We further show that the error of the the TDHF approximation vanishes at all times in the mean field limit.

Accuracy of the time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation for uncorrelated initial states

This article concerns the time-dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) approximation of single-particle dynamics in systems of interacting fermions. We find that the TDHF approximation is accurate when there are sufficiently many particles and the initial manyparticle state is any Gibbs equilibrium state for noninteracting fermions (with Slater determinants as a special example). Assuming a bounded two-p...

Continuum time-dependent Hartree-Fock method for giant resonances in spherical nuclei

This paper deals with the solution of the spherically symmetric time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation applied in the case of nuclear giant monopole resonances in the small and large amplitude regimes. The problem is spatially unbounded as the resonance state is in the continuum. The practical requirement to perform the calculation in a finite-sized spatial region results in a difficulty wit...

Gaussian phase-space representation of fermion dynamics: Beyond the time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation

A Gaussian operator representation for the many-body density matrix of fermionic systems, developed by Corney and Drummond Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 260401 2004 , is used to derive approximate decoupling schemes for their dynamics. In this approach the reduced single electron density-matrix elements serve as stochastic variables which satisfy an exact Fokker-Planck equation. The number of variables ...

Continuum quasiparticle random phase approximation and the time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approach

Quadrupole excitations of neutron-rich nuclei are analyzed by using the linear response method in the Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA). The QRPA response is derived starting from the time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) equations. The residual interaction between the quasiparticles is determined consistently from the two-body force used in the HFB equations, and the conti...

Extension of continuum time-dependent Hartree-Fock method to proton states

This paper deals with the solution of the spherically symmetric time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation applied to nuclear giant monopole resonances in the small amplitude regime. The problem is spatially unbounded as the resonance state is in the continuum. The practical requirement to perform the calculation in a finite-sized spatial region yields an artificial boundary, which is not presen...
