From Turbulent Beginnings

چکیده
Jesus College, Cambridge; [email protected] ABSTRACT A mechanism is suggested whereby thermonuclear energy released in Big Bang nucleosynthesis may lead to the formation of galaxies and large scale structure within a very short time period. This would perturb Friedmann cosmology and lead to a fractal Voronoi geometry. The true rate of expansion would be substantially below the observed value of Hubble’s constant. The CMB would show near flatness over the observed region. The model suggests a natural dynamical explanation of galaxy rotation curves without recourse exotic physics.

Turbulent Flow over Cars
In this paper the flow behaviour over a number of car bodies is studied. For this purpose the unsteady 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations have been applied. After averaging and nondimensionalizing the equations, the system of equations has been transformed from the Cartesian (x-y) coordinates to a body fitted generalized (-) coordinate. As the flow is incompressible, the density in the ...
متن کاملA Mthod for Generating the Turbulent Intermittency Function
A detection method based on sensitization of a squared double differentiated signal is developed which discriminates the turbulent zones from laminar zones quite accurately. The procedure adopts a variable threshold and a variable hold time of the order of the Kolmogorov time scale. The output file so generated, includes all the information for further analysis of the turbulent signal.
متن کاملLarval therapy from antiquity to the present day: mechanisms of action, clinical applications and future potential.
When modern medicine fails, it is often useful to draw ideas from ancient treatments. The therapeutic use of fly larvae to debride necrotic tissue, also known as larval therapy, maggot debridement therapy or biosurgery, dates back to the beginnings of civilisation. Despite repeatedly falling out of favour largely because of patient intolerance to the treatment, the practice of larval therapy is...
متن کاملTurbulent Flow in 2-D Domains with Complex Geometry-Finite Elelment Method
Using the highly recommended numerical techniques, a finite element computer code is developed to analyse the steady incompressible, laminar and turbulent flows in 2-D domains with complex geometry. The Petrov-Galerkin finite element formulation is adopted to avoid numerical oscillations. Turbulence is modeled using the two equation k-ω model. The discretized equations are written in the form o...
