چکیده

Bioimpedance measurements are an important tool in biomedical engineering and life sciences. Bioimpedance describes the response of living tissue to an applied electrical current and allows therefore conclusions about the condition and composition of the investigated tissue. This work describes the design and development of a high accuracy Bioimpedance Measurement System (BMS), which is able to measure amplitude and phase of a complex bioimpedance under test. The developed system is based on a System on Chip (SoC) Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), is in compliance with the IEC60601-1 and works in a frequency range of 10 kHz to 250 kHz. Design and preliminary evaluation of a portable device for the measurement of bioimpedance spectroscopy.

Portable bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) devices are of great value for monitoring the pathological status of biological tissues in clinical and home environments. The two traditional techniques for measuring complex bioimpedance, the bridge method and quadrature demodulation method, are either time-consuming or often associated with high cost, high power consumption, and large board space, and...

Mean Expected Error in Prediction of Total Body Water: A True Accuracy Comparison between Bioimpedance Spectroscopy and Single Frequency Regression Equations

For several decades electrical bioimpedance (EBI) has been used to assess body fluid distribution and body composition. Despite the development of several different approaches for assessing total body water (TBW), it remains uncertain whether bioimpedance spectroscopic (BIS) approaches are more accurate than single frequency regression equations. The main objective of this study was to answer t...

Measurement of Fluid Status Using Bioimpedance Methods in Korean Pediatric Patients on Hemodialysis

Adequate fluid management is an important therapeutic goal of dialysis. Recently, bioelectrical impedance methods have been used to determine body fluid status, but pediatric reports are rare. To determine the accuracy of bioelectrical impedance methods in the assessment of body fluid statusof children undergoing hemodialysis (HD), 12 children on HD were studied. A multi-frequency bioimpedance ...

New derivation method and simulation of skin effect in biological tissue.

Based on the electrical properties of biological tissues, bioimpedance measurement technology can be employed to collect physiologic and pathologic information by measuring changes in human bioimpedance. When an alternating current (AC) is applied as a detection signal to a tissue, the current field distribution, which is affected by skin effect, is related to both the bioimpedance of the tissu...
