The electrolytes of arterial wall in experimental renal hypertension.

چکیده
In nits with renal hypertension, smooth muscle cells in the wall of the aorta appear to have more water, sodium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus per unit of cell solids than similar cells in normotensive rats. When the blood pressure of a few hypertensive rats dropped to normal as a result of a low sodium diet, the potassium and phosphorus in the arterial cells also appeared to deci'ease to normal levels. These studies give indications of the compositional changes in arterial smooth muscle cells that are associated with renal hypertension.

Electrolytic lesions were placed along the anteroventral wall of the third cerebral ventricle (AV3V region) in 10 albino rabbits (AV3V-X), and sham lesions were produced in 10 additional rabbits (SHAM). Two to 3 weeks later, all rabbits underwent unilateral nephrectomy and renal artery stenosis (clip I.D. = 0.508 mm). During a 1-week control period, and for 4 weeks after renal artery stenosis, ...

Background and Aim: Previous studies have shown that arterial hypertension induces cardiac hypertrophy and myocardial oxidative stress. The aim of the present study was to assess the effects of treatment by atorvastatin, as an antioxidant, to prevent myocardial oxidative stress and cardiac hypertrophy in hypertensive rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 20 male Wistar rats w...
متن کاملThe effect of AT2 and Mas receptors antagonists on renal hemodynamic and excretory disorders induced by ischemia/reperfusion in male and female rats
Introduction: Renal ischemia-reperfusion (RIR) may disturb renin-angiotensin system components. In this study, the effects of Mas receptor (A779) and AT2 receptor (PD123319) antagonists were examined in RIR rats. Methods: Total 60 male and female Wistar rats were assigned into 10 groups (n=6 in each group), including sham-operated group, RIR groups treated with the vehicle, A779, PD123319, ...
متن کاملSodium restriction and reserpine administration in experimental renal hypertension; a correlation of arterial blood pressure responses with the ionic composition of the arterial wall.
An increase of intracellular potassium and sodium content in the wall of the aorta occurs in experimental renal hypertension. The elevated potassium tends to revert toward normal when blood pressure is again lowered with reserpine. The efficacy of rigid restriction of dietary sodium intake in decreasing blood pressure proved quite limited. The development of renal hypertension in the face of ri...
متن کاملChronology of blood pressure changes in renal hypertension induced by solid plexiglass clips in the rat
The objective of this study was to determine the chronology of changes in blood pressure in renalhypertension induced by solid plexiglass clips in rats. Saw blades with the thickness of 0.21-0.22 mm wereused to make clips sized 4 × 2 × 2 mm from a piece of 2-mm thick plexiglass. Rats were subjected to shamoperation or left renal arterial clipping, and 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks later blood pressure, a...
