چکیده
The male, larva and puparium of Philornis fasciventris (Wulp) are described for the fi rst time, as well as the larval habit and host association. The material was collected in Yucatan, Mexico in a nest of the turquoise-browed motmot, Eumomota superciliosa (Sandbach) (Coraciformes: Momotidae), fi rst host record for this species. E. superciliosa is also a new host record for Philornis.

SYSTEMATICS, MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Three Species of Anastrepha Schiner and of Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae)
Four species of Tephritoidea, three from genus Anastrepha: A. obliqua (Macquart), A. sororcula Zucchi and A. serpentina (Wiedemann), and one from genus Ceratitis, C. capitata (Wiedemann) were compared based on puparium morphology and application of the Heteroduplex Mobility Assay (HMA). Puparia were characterized for the first time using the spiracular posterior plate morphology. Application of...

This paper reviews all information gathered from different disciplines and studies to resolve the species status within the Ceratitis FAR (Ceratitis fasciventris, Ceratitis anonae, Ceratitis rosa) complex, a group of polyphagous fruit fly pest species (Diptera, Tephritidae) from Africa. It includes information on larval and adult morphology, wing morphometrics, cuticular hydrocarbons, pheromone...
متن کاملIntensive Artificial Selection Jeopardizes Animals, Well-Being: A Short Review
Domestication of animals has had some important effects on physiology, morphology, behavior and well-being of domesticated animals. Conscious or goal directed selections on animals for increasing their productions has accelerated the rate of the changes, leading to some well-being defections. This paper notes some aspects of animal domestication in context of genetic science. Then explains how ...
