Spectral algorithms for reaction-diffusion equations

چکیده
A collection of codes (in MATLAB & Fortran 77), and examples, for solving reaction-diffusion equations in one and two space dimensions is presented. In areas of the mathematical community spectral methods are used to remove the stiffness associated with the diffusive terms in a reactiondiffusion model allowing explicit high order timestepping to be used. This is particularly valuable for two (and higher) space dimension problems. Our aim here is to provide codes, together with examples, to allow practioners to easily utilize, understand and implement these ideas; we incorporate recent theoretical advances such as exponential time differencing methods and provide timings and error comparisons with other more standard approaches. The examples are chosen from the literature to illustrate points and queries that naturally arise.

Classical finite difference schemes may produce numerical drawback...
متن کاملPullback D-attractors for non-autonomous partly dissipative reaction-diffusion equations in unbounded domains
At present paper, we establish the existence of pullback $mathcal{D}$-attractor for the process associated with non-autonomous partly dissipative reaction-diffusion equation in $L^2(mathbb{R}^n)times L^2(mathbb{R}^n)$. In order to do this, by energy equation method we show that the process, which possesses a pullback $mathcal{D}$-absorbing set, is pullback $widehat{D}_0$-asymptotically compact.

In this article, we develop numerical schemes for solving stiff reaction-diffusion equations on annuli based on Chebyshev and Fourier spectral spatial discretizations and integrating factor methods for temporal discretizations. Stiffness is resolved by treating the linear diffusion through the use of integrating factors and the nonlinear reaction term implicitly. Root locus curves provide a suc...
