چکیده

Uptake of CO and C decreases 39% and 25%, respectively, when LDL concentration was increased. Besides, increasing concentration of HDL decreases the uptake of CO and C to 67% and 38%, respectively. This “In vitro” study, showed that the nanoemulsion compete with LDL and HDL for their respective receptors. These results contribute to better understand the behavior of the nanoemulsion in endothelial cell and can be an important tool for atherosclerosis therapy research.

The Coadministration of Unoxidized and Oxidized Desi Ghee Ameliorates the Toxic Effects of Thermally Oxidized Ghee in Rabbits

Desi Ghee was thermally oxidized at 160°C for 9 h and characterized for peroxide value (PV), free fatty acid (FFA), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), radical scavenging activity (RSA), and fatty acid and cholesterol composition using GC-MS. Oxidized (OG) and normal ghee (NG) were fed to rabbits in different doses. Blood was collected for hematology and biochemical analyses after ...

Effects of fish oil fatty acids on low density lipoprotein size, oxidizability, and uptake by macrophages.

The effect of fish oil and corn oil supplementation on plasma lipids and lipoproteins and on low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation was examined in 20 treated hypertensive subjects. The randomized double-blind crossover study consisted of two 6-week interventions with 4 g/day of a highly purified fish oil or corn oil. Fish oil significantly (-24%, P < 0.01) reduced plasma triglyceride, and inc...

Effect of lipid transfer activity and lipolysis on low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidizability: evidence for lipolysis-generated non-esterified fatty acids as inhibitors of LDL oxidation.

Low density lipoproteins (LDL) were modified in vitro in the presence of lipid transfer activity and lipolysis, which induced alterations in the size and lipid composition of LDL particles but not in their antioxidant content. Subsequently, modified LDL were oxidized with copper sulfate and the extent of LDL oxidation was evaluated. Lipid transfer activity alone, or in combination with lipolysi...

Oxidative stress markers in hypertensive states of pregnancy: preterm and term disease

Discussion continues as to whether de novo hypertension in pregnancy with significant proteinuria (pre-eclampsia; PE) and non-proteinuric new hypertension (gestational hypertension; GH) are parts of the same disease spectrum or represent different conditions. Non-pregnant hypertension, pregnancy and PE are all associated with oxidative stress. We have established a 6 weeks postpartum clinic for...

Dietary flavonoids reduce lipid peroxidation in rats fed polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fat diets.

We investigated the influence of dietary flavonoids on alpha-tocopherol status and LDL peroxidation in rats fed diets enriched in either polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) or monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). Diets equalized for alpha-tocopherol concentrations were or were not supplemented with 8 g/kg diet of flavonoids (quercetin + catechin, 2:1). After 4 wk of feeding, plasma lipid concentr...
