چکیده

A fully automatic macromodeling methodology to generate scalable reduced-order models for microelectromechanical systems is presented in this paper. Krylov subspace methods are used to generate reduced-order models from detailed higher-order models of the device under consideration. The entire methodology is implemented in a symbolic computation environment to preserve dependencies on physical device parameters. The macromodeling methodology is demonstrated using the combdrive microresonator as a representative example. The results are compared with analytical models, NODAS and finite element simulations. : reduced-order model, MEMS, macromodels, Krylov subspaces.

Generating Efficient Dynamical Models for Microelectromechanical Systems from a Few Finite-Element Simulation Runs

In this paper, we demonstrate how efficient loworder dynamical models for micromechanical devices can be constructed using data from a few runs of fully meshed but slow numerical models such as those created by the finiteelement method (FEM). These reduced-order macromodels are generated by extracting global basis functions from the fully meshed model runs in order to parameterize solutions wit...

A Table-Based Time-Domain Simulation Method for Oversampled Microelectromechanical Systems

This paper describes a table-based behavioral modeling method and an efficient transient simulation method for oversampled MEMS systems. A system is represented by a set of coupled ordinary differential equations (ODEs) numerically described by table-based macromodels. Cubic spline interpolation is used to evaluate the model functions. The instant settling approximation and the explicit ODE sol...

Error Indicators for Fully Automatic Extraction of Heat-Transfer Macromodels for MEMS

In this paper, we present three heuristic error indicators for the iterative model order reduction of electro-thermal MEMS models via the Arnoldi algorithm. Such error indicators help a designer to choose an optimal order of the reduced model, required to achieve a desired accuracy, and hence allow a completely automatic extraction of heattransfer macromodels for MEMS. We first suggest a conver...

Reduced-Order Modeling of MEMS Using Modal Basis Functions

The field of MEMS has matured significantly over the last two decades increasing in both complexity and level of integration. To keep up with the demands placed by these changes requires the development of computer-aided design and modeling tools (CAD/CAM) that enable designers to reduce the time and cost it takes to produce working prototypes. An ideal scenario is one in which a designer is ab...
