چکیده
more photosynthates than non-mycorrhizal ones, allocate a greater fraction of the assimilated carbon to the root systems and lose a greater fraction of the assimilated carbon to respiratory C0 2 than do non-mycorrhizal plants (for a review, see Martin et al., 1987). The establishment of a carbon sink by the ectomycorrhizal hyphae may be attained by: 1 ) rapid carbohydrate degradation for respiration and for energy and reducing power production and 2) conversion of plant carbohydrates into fungal biomass. The high respiration rate of fungal tissues has been pointed out by several authors (France and Reid, 1983). Most studies of mycorrhizal respiration deal with mitochondrial respiration. Much less is known about the oxidative

Effects of Temperature and Season on In Vitro Establishment and Shoot Multiplication of Picea abies (L.) H. Karst
Plant propagation originated from the mature tissues is the most desirable method in producing clonal plants, however microbial contamination usually is the main concern during regeneration processes. Moreover, commercial production of plants using clonal propagation is considered as high throughput method due to the removal of seasonal barriers, lower cost of production with higher yield wh...
متن کاملMolecular Identification of the Most Prevalent Mutation of Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Gene in Deficient Patients in Sistan and Balochestan Province of Iran
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) in humans is an X-chromosome-linked disorder and housekeeping enzyme, vital for the survival of every cell. It catalyses the oxidation of glucose-6-phosphate to 6-phospho gluconate in the first committed step of the pentose phosphate pathway, which provides cells with pentoses and reducing power in the form of NADPH. NADPH is required to protect the cell...
متن کاملMolecular Identification of the Most Prevalent Mutations of Glucose-6-Posphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) Gene in Deficient Patients in Khorasan Province of Iran
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enzyme catalyses the first step in pentose phosphate pathway (conversion of glucose-6-phosphat to 6-phospho gluconat) which provides cells with pentoses and reduction power in the form of NADPH. In the present study we have analyzed the G6PD gene mutations in 76 patients with a history of favism in Khorasan province in Iran. DNA samples were analyzed for...
متن کاملInfluence of road salting on the adjacent Norway spruce (Picea abies) forest
Winter deicing and traffic spreads salt to road-adjacent Norway spruce trees in the form of spraying and salt slops. Our use of Na36Cl revealed roots as the main pathway of salt uptake. One-shot application of a concentrated Na36Cl solution to spruce saplings by both irrigation and spraying causes macroscopic damage to the needles and affects the needle phyllosphere. Irrigation affects the tree...
متن کاملCarbon metabolism in spores of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Glomus intraradices as revealed by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are obligate symbionts that colonize the roots of over 80% of plants in all terrestrial environments. Understanding why AM fungi do not complete their life cycle under free-living conditions has significant implications for the management of one of the world's most important symbioses. We used (13)C-labeled substrates and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy...
