Microscopic Scenario for Striped Superconductors
نویسنده
چکیده
We argue that the superconducting state found in high-Tc cuprates is inhomogeneous with a corresponding inhomogeneous superfluid density. We introduce two classes of microscopic models which capture the magnetic and superconducting properties of these strongly correlated materials. We start from a generalized t-J model, in which appropriate inhomogeneous terms mimic stripes. We find that inhomogeneous interactions that break magnetic symmetries are essential to induce substantial pair binding of holes in the thermodynamic limit. We argue that this type of model reproduces the ARPES and neutron scattering data seen experimentally.

Striped antiferromagnetism and electronic structures of SrFeAsF and their implications
We investigate structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of SrFeAsF as a new parent for superconductors using a state-of-the-art density-functional theory method. Calculated results show that the striped antiferromagnetic order is the magnetic ground state in the Fe layer and the interlayer magnetic interaction is tiny. Calculated As and Sr positions are in good agreement with experiment....
متن کاملStriped superconductors: How the cuprates intertwine spin, charge and superconducting orders
Recent transport experiments in the original cuprate high temperature superconductor, La2−xBaxCuO4, have revealed a remarkable sequence of transitions and crossovers which give rise to a form of dynamical dimensional reduction, in which a bulk crystal becomes essentially superconducting in two directions while it remains poorly metallic in the third. We identify these phenomena as arising from ...
متن کاملMagnetism and its microscopic origin in iron-based high-temperature superconductors
High-temperature superconductivity in the iron-based materials emerges from, or sometimes coexists with, their metallic or insulating parent compound states. This is surprising, as these undoped states exhibit dramatically different antiferromagnetic spin arrangements and Néel temperatures. Although there is a general consensus that magnetic interactions are important for superconductivity, muc...
متن کاملElectronic Liquid Crystal Phases in Hole Doped Mott Insulators
Theoretical, numerical, and experimental studies have suggested the existence of ‘striped’ electronic phases in doped antiferromagnets such as the high temperature superconductors. We survey the literature and summarize the results.
متن کاملBCS-BEC Crossover: From High Temperature Superconductors to Ultracold Superfluids
We review the BCS to Bose Einstein condensation (BEC) crossover scenario which is based on the well known crossover generalization of the BCS ground state wavefunction Ψ0. While this ground state has been summarized extensively in the literature, this Review is devoted to less widely discussed issues: understanding the effects of finite temperature, primarily below Tc, in a manner consistent wi...
