چکیده

Direction finding techniques are usually based on the 2ndorder statistics of the received data. In this paper, we propose a MUSIC-like direction finding algorithm which uses a matrix-valued statistic based on the contraction of the 4thorder cumulant tensor of the array data (4-2 MUSIC). We then derive, in a unified framework, the asymptotic covariance of estimation errors for both 2nd-order and 4th-order based MUSICs, and show that the 4th-order method can perform equally well or even better than the 2nd-order method, even when the noise spatial structure is known.

Performance analysis of MUSIC and Pencil-MUSIC algorithms for diversely-polarized array

This paper presents an asymptotical analysis of the MUSIC and Pencil-MUSIC methods for estimating 2-D angles and polarizations using crossed dipoles. The explicit first order expressions for the variances of the MUSIC and Pencil-MUSIC estimates are derived. Both the theoretical and simulation results are used to analyze and compare the performances of the MUSIC and Pencil-MUSIC methods. A numbe...

Fourth-order algorithms for solving the imaginary-time Gross-Pitaevskii equation in a rotating anisotropic trap.

By implementing the exact density matrix for the rotating anisotropic harmonic trap, we derive a class of very fast and accurate fourth-order algorithms for evolving the Gross-Pitaevskii equation in imaginary time. Such fourth-order algorithms are possible only with the use of forward, positive time step factorization schemes. These fourth-order algorithms converge at time-step sizes an order-o...

Higher order direction finding from rectangular cumulant matrices: The rectangular 2q-MUSIC algorithms

Fourth-order (FO) high resolution direction finding methods such as 4-MUSIC have been developed for more than two decades for non-Gaussian sources mainly to overcome the limitations of second order (SO) high resolution methods such as MUSIC. In order to increase the performance of 4-MUSIC in the context of multiple sources, the MUSIC method has recently been extended to an arbitrary even order ...

Second and fourth order statistics-based reduced polynomial rooting direction finding algorithms

Polynomial rooting direction finding (DF) algorithms are a computationally efficient alternative to search based DF algorithms and are particularly suitable for uniform linear arrays (ULA) of physically identical elements provided mutual interaction among the array elements can be either neglected or compensated for. A popular algorithm in such situations is Root MUSIC (RM) wherein the estimati...

Direction of Arrival Estimation Based on Fourth-order Cumulant Using Propagator Method

In this paper direction-of-arrival estimation (DOA) of multiple narrow-band sources, based on higher-order statistics using propagator, is presented. This technique uses fourth-order cumulants of the received array data instead of second-order statistics (autocovariance) and then the so-called propagator approach is used to estimate the DOA of the sources. The propagator is a linear operator wh...
