Nucleated Polymerisation in the Presence of Pre-Formed Seed Filaments

چکیده
We revisit the classical problem of nucleated polymerisation and derive a range of exact results describing polymerisation in systems intermediate between the well-known limiting cases of a reaction starting from purely soluble material and for a reaction where no new growth nuclei are formed.

Cosmic Walls and Filaments Formation in Modied Chaplygin Gas Cosmology
We want to study the perturbation growth of an initial seed of an ellipsoidal shape in Top-Hat collapse model of the structure formation in the Modied Chaplygin gas cosmology. Considering reasonable values of the constants and the parameters of the model under study, we can show that a very small deviation from spherical symmetry (ellipsoidal geometry) in the initial seed leads to a nal highly ...
متن کاملRecA protein dynamics in the interior of RecA nucleoprotein filaments.
We characterize aspects of the conformation and dynamic state of RecA filaments when bound to dsDNA that are specifically linked to the presence of the second of the two bound DNA strands. Filaments bound to dsDNA exhibit a facile exchange between free and bound RecA monomers or oligomers in the filament interior that is not seen on ssDNA. The RecA mutant K72R, which binds but does not hydrolyz...
متن کاملAmyloid Oligomers and Protofibrils, but Not Filaments, Self-Replicate from Native Lysozyme
Self-assembly of amyloid fibrils is the molecular mechanism best known for its connection with debilitating human disorders such as Alzheimer's disease but is also associated with various functional cellular responses. There is increasing evidence that amyloid formation proceeds along two distinct assembly pathways involving either globular oligomers and protofibrils or rigid monomeric filament...
متن کاملA Process Model of Actin Polymerisation
Actin is the monomeric subunit of actin filaments which form one of the three major cytoskeletal networks in eukaryotic cells. Actin dynamics, be it the polymerisation of actin monomers into filaments or the reverse process, plays a key role in many cellular activities such as cell motility and phagocytosis. There is a growing number of experimental, theoretical and mathematical studies on the ...
متن کاملStrategies of actin reorganisation in plant cells.
Spatial-temporal flexibility of the actin filament network (F-actin) is essential for all basic cellular functions and is governed by a stochastic dynamic model. In this model, actin filaments that randomly polymerise from a pool of free actin are bundled with other filaments and severed by ADF/cofilin. The fate of the severed fragments is not known. It has been proposed that the fragments are ...
