Automatic Extraction of Symmetry Plane from Falx Cerebri Areas in CT Slices

چکیده
We present the simple and fast symmetry plain detection algorithm, that recognizes Falx cerebri curve on each human brain computed thomogrpahy slice. Symmetry curves appear approximately on 30% images and using such images as reference it is possible to determine symmetry plane. We propose an algorithm based on hybrid methods, that allows detect symmetry plane with deviation angle until 25. The method is based on Fuzzy logic that selects region of interest and symmetry curves. Direct pixels selection with evaluation of symmetry curve properties are used to calculate symmetry plane with high speed.

Three-dimensional analysis of craniofacial asymmetry and integrated, modular organization of human head
To achieve craniofacial symmetry is one of the important goals of orthodontic and orthognathic treatment planning. With the increasing popularity of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in recent years, it is frequently considered for three-dimensional evaluation of craniofacial asymmetry. Currently, there are no published reviews reporting craniofacial modularization to explain the aggravated ...
متن کاملA Case of Dural Arteriovenous Fistula in the Falx Cerebri: Case Report and Review of the Literature
A 67-year-old man presented with consciousness disturbance and right hemiparesis. Computed tomography (CT) scan showed an intracerebral hematoma with two enhanced vascular lesions. Digital subtraction angiography revealed the dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) in the falx cerebri which was supplied by both bilateral middle meningeal arteries and left pericallosal artery and drained into both th...
متن کاملAutomatic Extraction of the Central Symmetry (Mid-Sagittal) Plane from Neuroradiology Images
Normal human brains present an approximate bilateral symmetry. This symmetry is reflected in CT and MR images depicting axial and coronal slices of the brain. Though the internal structure of a pathologic brain may depart from its normal bilateral symmetry, the ideal imaginary bilateral symmetry plane remains invariant. This plane is often referred to as the mid-sagittal plane of the brain. Aut...
متن کاملA partially ossified falx cerebri.
During a routine faculty prosection of the head and neck region of an adult female cadaver, a partial ossification of the falx cerebri was found. Ossification of other dural areas or regions of the body were not found. In addition, the brain and remaining organs appeared to be grossly normal. Reports of partial ossification of the falx cerebri are still rare and while certain pathologies such a...
متن کاملCT demonstration of sarcoidosis of the optic nerve, frontal lobes, and falx cerebri: case report and literature review.
Sarcoidosis of the optic nerve is reported in 1 %-5% of sarcoid patients [1]. Even though it is the second most frequently affected cranial nerve in this disease [1, 2], its involvement has not been demonstrated previously by computed tomography (CT) [3-12]. In addition, despite pathologic descriptions of granulomatous infiltration of the falx [13, 14], transfalcine spread of sarcoidosis has no...
