Design Considerations of Adaptive Trellis-Based Blind Sequence Estimators

چکیده
In this paper, we consider design aspects of adaptive trellisbased blind sequence estimators, which are derived from the joint ML data/channel estimation problem. The number of states in the trellis is considered as a design parameter, which provides a trade-off between the performance and complexity. It is shown that for uncoded data the data sequence can only be determined up to an unknown shift index. This shift ambiguity can be resolved by taking an outer channel encoder into account. The average magnitude of the soft outputs from the corresponding channel decoder is exploited to identify the shift index. For frequency-hopping systems over fading channels, a double serially concatenated scheme is proposed, where the inner code is applied to combat the shift ambiguity and the outer code provides time-diversity in conjunction with an inter-burst interleaver. Moreover, the selection of inner/outer channel codes is also considered.

Trellis-Based Iterative Adaptive Blind Sequence Estimation for Uncoded/Coded Systems with Differential Precoding
We propose iterative, adaptive trellis-based blind sequence estimators, which can be interpreted as reduced-complexity receivers derived from the joint ML data/channel estimation problem. The number of states in the trellis is considered as a design parameter, providing a trade-off between performance and complexity. For symmetrical signal constellations, differential encoding or generalization...
متن کاملApplication of adaptive sampling in fishery part 2: Truncated adaptive cluster sampling designs
There are some experiences that researcher come across quite number of time for very large networks in the initial samples such that they cannot finish the sampling procedure. Two solutions have been proposed and used by marine biologists which we discuss in this article: i) Adaptive cluster sampling based on order statistics with a stopping rule, ii) Restricted adaptive cluster sampling. Until...

متن کاملA Novel Multi-user Detection Approach on Fluctuations of Autocorrelation Estimators in Non-Cooperative Communication
Recently, blind multi-user detection has become an important topic in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) signals are well-known due to their low probability of detection, and secure communication. In this article, the problem of blind multi-user detection is studied in variable processing gain direct-sequence code division multiple access (VPG D...
متن کاملBayesian EM-based demodulators for frequency-selective fading channels
In this paper, the problem of adaptive MAP symbol detection in the uncoded transmission as well as the problem of adaptive APP demodulation in the coded transmission of data symbols over the frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel are explored within the framework of the Bayesian expectationmaximization (BEM) algorithm. In particular, two novel versions of the BEM-based detection and demodu...
