چکیده

1 This work is partly supported by the German Ministry of Education and Research under IPonAir Project Abstract : This paper describes the system design and implementation of a testbed, running at TSystems in Darmstadt. In this testbed the interworking between mobile wireless ad hoc networks (MANETs) and infrastructure based networks, based on the IPv6 protocol is investigated. This means, access to the internet via a multihop wireless network is demonstrated. In normal cases ad hoc networks are autonomous, without any possibility to get access to other networks. To solve this challenge a “wireless gateway” has been developed that works as an interface between the ad hoc network and infrastructure based networks. In this paper the testbed and its basic protocol architecture are described. The main part of the paper is focused on the major challenges that had to be solved, to realise the demonstrator: wireless gateway, wireless gateway discovery, IPv6 address autoconfiguration and Mobile IPv6 within the MANET.

Integration of Mobile-IPV6 and Olsr for Inter-Monet Communications

Trends in fourth generation (4G) wireless networks are clearly identified by the full-IP concept where all traffic (data, control, voice and video services, etc.) will be transported in IP packets. MObile NETwork (MONET) is a group of mobile nodes moving together as a unit. Such groups are common characteristics of the vehicular environments, for example train and buses (which are attractive be...

Implementation of IPV6 in Ad-Hoc Networks

The paper presents issues concerning the construction of globally connected wireless networks based on the IPv6 protocol. Prospects of implementation of IPv6 in wireless networks and IPv6 features and mechanisms important in such applications are discussed. Concepts presented here apply to wireless ad hoc mesh networks. In ad hoc networks (MANETs), wireless nodes spontaneously collaborate to ro...

Wireless Multihop Internet Access: Gateway Discovery, Routing, and Addressing

This paper investigates the interworking between wireless ad hoc networks and the Internet. In other words, we consider access to the Internet via a multihop wireless network. The heterogenous communication is established with the help of specific access routers, which serve as gateways between the two kinds of networks. We describe the network scenario and its basic protocol architecture. The ...

Energy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...
