Millimeter-Wave Photonic Techniques: Part I-Photonic Generation of Millimeter-Wave Signals

چکیده

Broadband, low loss and cost-effective transmission capability of optical fiber links has led to an ever-increasing interest in their use for the generation and distribution of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) signals for broadband wireless access networks and sensor networks. In this paper, some new techniques in photonic generation of mm-wave signals for radio-over-fiber (RoF) network applications are reviewed, which include phase locking of two ultra-quiet lasers, mm-wave source generation using external modulation techniques.
