چکیده

We use monoidal category methods to study the noncommutative geometry of nonassociative algebras obtained by a Drinfeld-type cochain twist. These are the so-called quasialgebras and include the octonions as braided-commutative but nonassociative coordinate rings, as well as quasialgebra versions Cq(G) of the standard q-deformation quantum groups. We introduce the notion of ribbon algebras in the category, which are algebras equipped with a suitable generalised automorphism σ, and obtain the required generalisation of cyclic cohomology. We show that this braided cyclic cocohomology is invariant under a cochain twist. We also extend to our generalisation the relation between cyclic cohomology and differential calculus on the ribbon quasialgebra. The paper includes differential calculus and cyclic cocycles on the octonions as a finite nonassociative geometry, as well as the algebraic noncommutative torus as an associative example. ∗Supported financialy by British Council and Ministry of Science of Iran

K-groups and Classification of Simple Quotients of Group C*-algebras of Certain Discrete 5-dimensional Nilpotent Groups

The K-groups, the range of trace on K0, and isomorphism classifications are obtained for simple infinite dimensional quotient C*-algebras of the group C*-algebras of six lattice subgroups, corresponding to each of the six non-isomorphic 5-dimensional connected, simply connected, nilpotent Lie groups. Connes’ non-commutative geometry involving cyclic cocycles and the Chern character play a key r...

Schwinger terms of current algebra can be identiied with nontrivial cyclic cocycles of a Fredholm module. We discuss its temperature dependence. Similar anomalies may occur also in spin systems. In simple examples already an operator{valued cocycle shows up.

Cohomological Aspects of Hopf Algebra Liftings

A recent result of ours [GM] shows that all Hopf algebra liftings of a given diagram in the sense of Andruskiewitsch and Schneider are cocycle deformations of each other. Here we develop a ‘non-abelian’ cohomology theory, which gives a method for an explicit description of cocycles relevant to the lifting process. 0. Differential Calculi over Quantum Groups and Twisted Cyclic Cocycles

We study some aspects of the theory of non-commutative differential calculi over complex algebras, especially over the Hopf algebras associated to compact quantum groups in the sense of S.L. Woronowicz. Our principal emphasis is on the theory of twisted graded traces and their associated twisted cyclic cocycles. One of our principal results is a new method of constructing differential calculi, ...
