چکیده

Optical waveguiding LiNbO3 film was grown on ~001!-oriented crystalline SiO2 substrate by pulsed laser deposition. The film is highly ~012! textured and has smooth surface. Its photoluminescence ~PL! spectra were obtained by using the 514.4 nm line excitation of Ar laser, displaying a broad band peaked at 2.2 eV at room temperature and three well-resolved luminescent bands peaked at 2.3, 2.2, and 2.14 eV at liquid nitrogen temperature with different polarization properties. Spectral analysis indicates that these obtained PL bands arise from the self-trapped excitons and the E8 defect pairs connected with oxygen vacancies in the LiNbO3 film. © 1996 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~96!00252-5#

Longitudinal Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect in Ce:YIG Thin Films Incorporating Gold Nanoparticles

We report an experimental study on optical and magneto-optical properties of Cesubstituted yttrium iron garnet thin films incorporating gold nanoparticles. Au nanoparticles were formed by heating Au thin film on cubic quartz and garnet substrate in vacuum chamber and a Ce:YIG layer was deposited on them by the aid of Pulsed laser deposition method. A large enhancement of the longitudinal Kerr e...

Synthesis and Laser Processing of ZnO Nanocrystalline Thin Films

We present the results of experiments on synthesis of ZnO nanoclusters by reactive pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The nanoclusters were formed and crystallized in the gas phase and deposited on SiO2 substrates. The nanostructured films were characterized by conventional photoluminescence (PL). The PL spectra consist of a narrow UV excitonic band and a broad visible band related to defects in th...

Correlation between optical properties, composition, and deposition parameters in pulsed laser deposited LiNbO3 films

The correlation between the optical properties and composition of lithium niobate films is investigated in films deposited by laser ablation of single-crystal LiNbO3 and Li enriched LiNbO3 sintered targets under different oxygen pressures and laser fluences. The results show that the variation of the film refractive index is in many cases related to the deposition process itself, rather than to...
