چکیده
We present measurements of fragmentation cross sections of relativistic nuclei and upper limits for the production probability of nuclear fragments with fractional charge using CR39 nuclear track detectors and an automated scanning system. The measurements of the total and partial charge changing fragmentation cross sections concern 16 GeV/nucleon oxygen ions, 14.5 GeV/nucleon silicon ions and 200 GeV/nucleon sulphur ions interacting in copper and CR39 targets. No evidence for fractionally charged fragments was found requiring a minimum track length of 7 nun in CR39 detectors placed after a 14 mm copper target. The combined upper limit for the production probability of fractionally charged fragments relative to ordinary ones is at the level of 1.2-2.3xlO-4 (90% C.L.). The charge resolution of the CR39 detectors for an average of 10 measurements of the same track is cr=O.OSe at Z=6. * Also Faculty of Science, University Mohamed I, Oujda, Morocco

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...
متن کاملCharge exchange in relativistic heavy ion collisions
Elastic charge-exchange in relativistic heavy ion collisions is responsible for the non-disruptive change of the charge state of the nuclei. We show that it can be reliably calculated within the eikonal approximation for the reaction part. The formalism is applied to the charge-pickup cross sections of 158 GeV/nucleon Pb projectiles on several targets. The relative contributions of pionand rho-...
متن کاملLimiting fragmentation from the Color Glass Condensate
We show how the limiting fragmentation phenomenon can arise from the Color Glass Condensate model of high energy QCD. We consider the very forward rapidity region in relativistic heavy ion collisions and argue that in this region, nucleus-nucleus collisions are similar to proton-nucleus collisions (up to shadowing corrections). We then use the known results for proton-nucleus cross sections to ...
متن کاملImprovement on Fermionic properties and new isotope production in molecular dynamics simulations
By considering momentum transfer in the Fermi constraint procedure, the stability of the initial nuclei and fragments produced in heavy-ion collisions can be further improved in the quantum molecular dynamics simulations. The case of the phase space occupation probability larger than one is effectively reduced with the proposed procedure. Simultaneously, the energy conservation can be better de...

We report on the measurements of the total charge changing fragmentation cross sections in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions using Fe, Si and Pb incident ions. Several stacks of CR39 nuclear track detectors with different target combinations were exposed at normal incidence to high energy accelerator beams to integrated densities of about 2000 ions/cm. The nuclear track detector foils were...
