Ultra high resolution venography using T2* weighted imaging at 7T MRI

چکیده
Throughout the last two decades, MRI has been ameliorated by a dramatic increase in the field strength; from 0.015 to 7 Tesla (T) MR systems. Ultrahigh-field MR system (beyond 3T) has great potential to produce newly improved imaging capabilities for both clinical diagnosis and basic science research. The primary purpose of venography was the description of cerebral veins, but it has also been applied successfully in imaging of stroke, multiple sclerosis, tumors or hemorrhagic lesions. By now susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) has played part of the clinical diagnosis at 1.5T and 3.0T MR scanning [1,2]. Recently, studies have reported the potential of venography study at 7T MRI [3]. The aim of this study was to optimize and to evaluate ultra high resolution 3D venography for the visualization of micro-cerebral veins at 7 T MRI.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to explore the efficacy of Ultra-high field [UHF] 7 Tesla [T] MRI as compared to 3T MRI in non-contrast enhanced [nCE] imaging of structural anatomy in the elbow, forearm, and hand [upper extremity]. MATERIALS AND METHOD A wide range of sequences including T1 weighted [T1] volumetric interpolate breath-hold exam [VIBE], T2 weighted [T2] double-echo stea...
متن کاملFirst clinical study on ultra-high-field MR imaging in patients with multiple sclerosis: comparison of 1.5T and 7T.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Higher magnetic field strengths and continuous improvement of high-resolution imaging in multiple sclerosis (MS) are expected to provide unique in-vivo and non-invasive insights in pathogenesis and clinical monitoring. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential of high-resolution imaging of MS lesions in vivo comparing 7T with conventional 1.5T. MATERIAL...
متن کاملIn vivo evidence of disseminated subpial T2* signal changes in multiple sclerosis at 7 T: A surface-based analysis
Cortical subpial demyelination is frequent in multiple sclerosis (MS) and is closely associated with disease progression and poor neurological outcome. Although cortical lesions have been difficult to detect using conventional MRI, preliminary data using T2*-weighted imaging at ultra-high field 7T MRI showed improved sensitivity for detecting and categorizing different histological types of cor...
متن کاملChapter 2 . 2 Ultra - high field MRI visualization of cortical multiple sclerosis lesions with T 2 and T 2 * : a post - mortem MRI and histopathology study
abstraCt Background and Purpose: At 7T MRI, T2*-weighted (T2*-w) gradient-echo has been shown to provide high-resolution anatomical images of gray matter (GM) lesions. However, few studies have verified T2* lesions histopathologically, or compared them with more standard techniques at ultra-high field-strength. This study aims to determine the sensitivity of T2-w and T2*-w sequences for detecti...

OBJECTIVES To demonstrate the image quality that can be obtained for multiple contrasts using ultra-high resolution MRI (highest nominal resolution: 350 μm isotropic) at 7T using appropriate motion-correction. MATERIALS AND METHODS An MRI-based fat-excitation motion navigator (which requires no additional hardware) was incorporated into T1-weighted (MP2RAGE, 350 μm nominal isotropic resolutio...
