Verification in the Forest Sector in Cameroon

چکیده
The national forest sector: context and issues Productive closed forests on drained land in Cameroon cover about 17.5 million hectares (Eba’a Atyi 1998). A zoning plan drafted in 1993 divided the national territory into a permanent forest domain (PFD) and a non-permanent forest domain (NPFD). The bulk of annual timber production is harvested in about 100 Forest Management Units (FMU) inside the PFD. Cameroon’s forest sector is the second largest source of export revenue in the economy after petroleum, representing 16% of national exports earnings in 2003 (about 380 million US dollars), and about 6% of GDP (CBFP 2006). The logging and timber processing sector is highly concentrated, with more than 80% of national timber production being generated by fewer than 20 big companies, predominantly European. Sustainable development and environmental challenges in Cameroon’s mining sector: A review
Cameroon has a strong geological potential for a number of mineral resources that, if well managed, could support economic growth. The country contains potentially large deposits of iron ore, gold, bauxite, diamond, limestone, nickel, and gemstones, and indices of other numerous minerals and precious metals. Despite its geological wealth, mining has never played a major role in Cameroon’s econo...
متن کاملInformation and data flow analysis for forestry sector in Iran as a basic requirement for designing a forest information system (FIS)
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the status of information on forest and data transfer and to identify the gaps in information and data flow in forestry sector in Iran. The study evaluated the data and information flow in three levels (control offices level, provincial offices level and organizational offices level) using the document analysis and questioning (interviews and ques...
متن کاملStochastic Dynamic Programming with Markov Chains for Optimal Sustainable Control of the Forest Sector with Continuous Cover Forestry
We present a stochastic dynamic programming approach with Markov chains for optimal control of the forest sector. The forest is managed via continuous cover forestry and the complete system is sustainable. Forest industry production, logistic solutions and harvest levels are optimized based on the sequentially revealed states of the markets. Adaptive full system optimization is necessary for co...
متن کاملThe Role of Topographic Factors and Land Formation on the Severity of Forest Crown Dieback in the Zagrossian Sector of Ilam Province
The purpose of this study was to investigate some environmental factors of Zagros forest dieback. In this regard, raster layers of elevation, slope, aspect, hillshade, toposhape and the land formation of Zagros forests in Ilam province were prepared. The distribution map of live and dieback forest cover were also prepared, using Landsat 8 panchromatic images. Then, the percentage of dieback for...
