چکیده
Parasitic diseases are widespread, currently affecting about 3 x 109 people and innumerable domestic animals.0 Nematodes (round worms) are a group of most important parasitic organisms. Many attempts have been made to find potent nematocidal substances, however, only a few antibiotics are available in practice.^ Recently, avermectins, which have a potent nematocidal activity and are used in the veterinary fields, were discovered by the in vivo screening method using mice infected with Nematospiroides dubius.3^ Kimura et aL5) devised a method to distinguish alive nematodes from dead ones, which is based on the nature of living nematodes that descend through Japanese paper. We attempted to develop a screening method for nematocidal antibiotics using the pine wood nematode Bursaphelenchus lignicolus by Kimura's method with modifications. Consequently, a more rapid and simple methodwas successfully established and then used for prac-

Screening and Functional Analysis of the Peroxiredoxin Specifically Expressed in Bursaphelenchus xylophilus—The Causative Agent of Pine Wilt Disease
The pine wood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, is the causal agent of pine wilt disease. Accurately differentiating B. xylophilus from other nematodes species, especially its related species B. mucronatus, is important for pine wood nematode detection. Thus, we attempted to identify a specific protein in the pine wood nematode using proteomics technology. Here, we compared the proteomes of...
متن کاملCellobiose Dehydrogenase Production by the Genus Cladosporium
Cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH EC.1.1.5.1) is an extracellular enzyme that mainly produced by wood-degrading fungi. It oxidizes cellobiose to cellobionolactone using a wide spectrum of electron acceptors. The key roles of CDH in growth, metabolism, and some other important cellular processes such as cellulose degradation in fungi have been noted. Since the demands for finding new sources of CDH ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Different Land Uses on New Indices of Soil Quality in Central Alborz Region
Different land uses have various effects on the changes of soil properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of natural forest, needle-leaved plantation and rangelands of central Alborz on new indices of soil quality (i.e. organic matter stratification, carbon management index and soil biological activities). For this purpose, eight samples from organic layer (litter) and m...
متن کاملThe effects of pine wood vinegar on the germination, growth and photosynthetic characteristics of cucumber
Wood vinegar is a substance, derived from cooling black carbon fire, which could be used instead of chemical materials in the agriculture industry as an organic compound. In order to study the effectiveness of pine wood vinegar on physiological and photosynthesis traits of cucumber, two experiments were conducted based on a completely randomized design with six treatments including 0, 1250, 200...
متن کاملFunctional analysis of the cellulose gene of the pine wood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, using RNA interference.
Cellulases are pathogenic substances suspected to be responsible for the development of the early symptoms of nematode disease. The pine wood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus (Parasitaphelenchidae), is the causal agent of pine wilt disease, which kills millions of pine trees. We used RNA interference (RNAi), a reverse genetic tool, to analyze the function of the endo-β-1,4-glucanase ge...
