A teleparallel effective geometry for Einstein’s unified field theory

چکیده
Riemannian and teleparallel geometrical approaches to the investigation of Maxwell electrodynamics shown that a unified field theory of gravitation and electromagnetism a la Einstein can be obtained from a stationary metric. This idea contrasts with the recently proposed premetric electrodynamics by Hehl and Obukhov. In the teleparallel case the definition of the electric field is obtained straightforward from the spacetime metric and the orthonormal basis frame of teleparallelism. In this case the only nonvanishing component of Cartan torsion is defined as the effective electric field. In this approach the gravitational potentials or metric coefficients are expressed in terms of the effective or analogous electric and magnetic potentials. Thefore the Maxwell equations in vacuum can be obtained by derivation of this electric field definition as usual. In the Riemannian case we consider an electrostatic spacetime where the Einstein equations in vacuum in the approximation of linear fields. The constraint of Einstein equations in vacuum are shown to lead or to the Coulomb equation or to a singular behaviour on the metric which would represent a kind of effective electrodynamic black hole event horizon. Field equations in teleparallel spacetime: Einstein’s Fernparallelismus approach towards unified field theory
A historical account of Einstein’s Fernparallelismus approach towards a unified field theory of gravitation and electromagnetism is given. In this theory, a spacetime characterized by a curvature-free connection in conjunction with a metric tensor field, both defined in terms of a dynamical tetrad field, is investigated. The approach was pursued by Einstein in a number of publications that appe...

In this paper using the Clifford bundle formalism a Lagrangian theory of the Yang-Mills type (with a gauge fixing term and an auto interacting term) for the gravitational field in Minkowski spacetime is presented. It is shown how two simple hypothesis permits the interpretation of the formalism in terms of effective Lorentzian or teleparallel geometries. In the case of a Lorentzian geometry int...

The teleparallel equivalent of general relativity is an intriguing alternative formulation of general relativity. In this thesis, we examine theories of teleparallel gravity in detail, and explore their relation to a whole spectrum of alternative gravitational models, discussing their position within the hierarchy of Metric Affine Gravity models. Consideration of alternative gravity models is m...
متن کاملEinstein’s Unified Field Theory Program
Einstein explicitly used the term ‘unified field theory’ in the title of a publication for the first time in 1925. Ten more papers appeared in which the term is used in the title, but Einstein had dealt with the topic already in half a dozen publications before 1925. In total he wrote more than forty technical papers on the subject. This work represents roughly a fourth of his overall oeuvre of...

The field equations of a special class of teleparallel theory of gravitation and electromagnetic fields have been applied to tetrad space having cylindrical symmetry with four unknown functions of radial coordinate r and azimuth angle θ. The vacuum stress-energy momentum tensor with one assumption concerning its specific form generates one non-trivial exact analytic solution. This solution is c...
