چکیده

Using advanced SAR data from the Danish airborne SAR, EMISAR, a research project was initiated in 1998 as a collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark and the Danish National Survey and Cadastre to investigate the potential of using SAR data for production and updating of cartographic maps. The ultimate objective of the research is to be able to perform quickly and efficiently compiling and updating of topographic maps using satellite and airborne remote sensing data. The specific objectives for the project are to evaluate the potential of the polarimetric and interferometric SAR to detect the necessary object classes to be used for the thematic map content, and to assess the complementary information gained relative to the results of the traditional methods, and to evaluate the accuracy of methods for retrieval of the necessary map information from SAR data. In the project methods have been developed and studied for extraction of relevant information from the polarimetric and interferometric SAR data about objects like roads, buildings, lakes, fields, forests, etc. A number of feature extraction and land-use classification methods have been implemented and analyzed. Also, the very important issue to use the SAR for change detection as a means of fast, frequent and cost-efficient updating of existing map information has been studied.

Removal of RFI in Wideband Radars

The least-mean-square (LMS) adaptive filter is applied to suppress narrow-band radiofrequency interference (R.FI) in wideband synthetic aperture radar (SAR.) signals. Simulation is used to show the working principles of the adaptive filter and to obtain the optimum filter's parameters. The algorithm is tested with P-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR.) data collected by the NASA/JPL airborne SA...

Statistical Modelling of Sea Clutter in Airborne S-band Fully Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery

This paper presents statistical modelling of sea clutter in airborne S-band fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. The modelling was performed by using squared radius and trace statistic for singlelook and multilook fully polarimetric SAR data, respectively. Both homogeneous and texture models were investigated and evaluated quantitatively. From the obtained results, it was fou...

Use of synthetic aperture radar for recognition of Coastal Geomorphological Features, land-use assessment and shoreline changes in Bragança coast, Pará, Northern Brazil

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images are being used more extensively than ever before for geoscience applications in the moist tropics. In this investigation, a RADARSAT1-1 C-HH SAR image acquired in 1998 was used for coastal mapping and land-cover assessment in the Bragança area, in the northern Brazil. The airborne GEMS 1000 X-HH radar image acquired in 1972 during the RADAM Project was also...

Integrated Airborne Ifsar Mapping System

A Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is fundamental information for the geo-spatial data infrastructure framework. Many applications require three-dimensional (3-D) geo-spatial data with high spatial resolution and accuracy. One leading technology of the nationwide 3-D mapping is airborne interferometric SAR mapping system due to its all-weather acquisition capability. Compared to other airborne map...
