چکیده
The existence of multiphonon states in the nuclear spectrum of excitation has been predicted since the introduction of collective models [1]. Examples of low-lying nuclear vibrational states have been known for many years in nuclear spectra and are still being actively investigated with new generation of detectors; in particular, two-phonon multiplets and some three-phonon states based on the low-lying collective quadrupole and octupole modes have been found [2–8]. Recently, it has also been beautifully demonstrated that multi-phonon excitations of these low-lying collective vibrations strongly influence heavyion fusion reactions at energies near and below the Coulomb barrier [9], through the socalled fusion barrier distribution analysis [10,11]. It was pointed out that anharmonicities of vibrational excitations can significantly alter the shape of fusion barrier distribution and

We apply the time-dependent variational principle, the nuclear field theory, and the boson expansion method to the Lipkin model to discuss anharmonicities of collective vibrational excitations. It is shown that all of these approaches lead to the same anharmonicity to leading order in the number of particles. Comparison with the exact solution of the Lipkin model shows that these theories repro...

A recent analysis of experimental energy systematics suggests that all collective nuclei fall into one of three classes – seniority, anharmonic vibrational, or rotational – with sharp phase transitions between them. We investigate the transition from the seniority to the anharmonic vibrator regime within a shell model framework involving a single large j–orbit. The calculations qualitatively re...

Data for the scattering of 6 He, 8 He, 9 Li, and 11 Li from hydrogen are analyzed within a fully microscopic folding model of proton-nucleus scattering. Current data suggest that of these only 11 Li has a noticeable halo. The available data for the 6 Li(γ, π +) 6 He gs reaction support the conclusion that 6 He does not.

We derive large-amplitude collective equations of motion from the variational principle for the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. These equations reduce to the well-known diabatic formulas for vibrational frequencies in the small amplitude limit. The finite amplitude expression allows departures from harmonic behavior of giant resonances to be simply estimated. The relative shift of the seco...

The pseudo-SU(3) model is extended to explicitly include the spin and protonneutron degrees of freedom. A general formalism for evaluating matrix elements of one-body and two-body tensor operators within this framework is presented. The pairing interaction, which couples different irreducible representations of SU(3), is expressed in terms of pseudo-space tensors and a general result is given f...
