Fluctuation and low transverse momentum correlation results from PHENIX

چکیده

The PHENIX Experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has conducted a survey of fluctuations in charged hadron multiplicity in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at √ sNN = 22, 62, and 200 GeV. A universal power law scaling for multiplicity fluctuations expressed as σ2/μ2 is observed as a function of Npart for all species studied that is independent of the transverse momentum range of the measurement. PHENIX has also measured transverse momentum correlation amplitudes in p+p, d+Au, and Au+Au collisions. At low transverse momentum, significant differences in the correlations between the baseline p+p and d+Au data and the Au+Au data are presented.

The PHENIX Experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has made measurements of event-by-event fluctuations in the net charge, the mean transverse momentum, and the charged particle multiplicity as a function of collision energy, centrality, and transverse momentum in heavy ion collisions. The results of these measurements will be reviewed and discussed.. 1. Introduction The PHENIX experi...

Scaling Properties of Fluctuation Results from the PHENIX Experiment at RHIC

The PHENIX Experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has made measurements of event-by-event fluctuations in the charged particle multiplicity as a function of collision energy, centrality, collision species, and transverse momentum in several heavy ion collision systems. It is observed that the fluctuations in terms of σ/μ exhibit a universal power-law scaling as a function of Npartici...

A PHENIX perspective on soft observables in Heavy Ion Collisions

We present an overview of measurements from the PHENIX experiment focusing on soft observables in nucleus-nucleus collisions. The excellent particle identification of the PHENIX detector at low and intermediate transverse momentum provide an extensive set of measurements in nucleus-nucleus collisions and baseline measurements in p+p and d+Au collisions. Thermalized particle spectra, strong elli...

Scaling Properties of Fluctuation and Correlation Results from PHENIX

Recent surveys of multiplicity fluctuations, transverse momentum fluctuations, and two-particle azimuthal correlations are presented for several collision systems as a function of centrality and transverse momentum. Both multiplicity and transverse momentum fluctuations exhibit a power law scaling as a function of the number of participants that is independent of the collision system. Although ...

The Evolution of Correlation Functions from Low To High pT in PHENIX: From HBT To Jets

The PHENIX Experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has performed a survey of momentum correlations ranging from 200 MeV/c to 7 GeV/c in √ sNN = 200 GeV p+p, d+Au, Au+Au, and √ sNN = 62 GeV Au+Au collisions. The correlations are measured separately for like-sign and unlike-sign pairs. Comparisons of the properties of the near-side peak amplitude and width as a function of centrality an...
