The quantification and role of diffuse myocardial fibrosis in familial dilated cardiomyopathy - an equilibrium contrast cmr study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods Using international diagnostic guidelines we identified 28 patients with fDCM (mean age 42, 61% male, 89% NYHA class I, 11% NYHA class II). This cohort excluded the most severe cases of fDCM due to the high prevalence of permanent pacemakers or ICDs. The Vd(m) (a measure of DMF) was compared to that obtained in healthy volunteers (mean age 35, 63% male) and also to other indexed CMR parameters, including left atrial area and echocardiographic parameters of diastolic function (tissue doppler and strain imaging).

Imaging Equilibrium Contrast Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance for the Measurement of Diffuse Myocardial Fibrosis Preliminary Validation in Humans
Background—Diffuse myocardial fibrosis is a final end point in most cardiac diseases. It is missed by the cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) late gadolinium enhancement technique. Currently, quantifying diffuse myocardial fibrosis requires invasive biopsy, with inherent risk and sampling error. We have developed a robust and noninvasive technique, equilibrium contrast CMR (EQ–CMR) to quant...

متن کاملMyocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods
Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...
متن کاملQuantitative assessment of myocardial extracellular volume fraction in non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy and its relation to systolic dysfunction
Background Interstitial myocardial fibrosis is a histological hallmark of non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and may play an important role in adverse remodelling and progressive systolic dysfunction. T1-mapping enables noninvasive assessment of diffuse fibrosis by quantification of myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV). We hypothesized that CMR would identify a raised ECV in D...
متن کاملDiffuse myocardial fibrosis in early forms of dilated cardiomyopathy: insights from T1 mapping cardiovascular magnetic resonance
Background The underlying myocardial injury in early forms of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is unclear. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) myocardial T1-mapping monitors the enlargement of the cardiac extra-cellular space and thus offers a non-invasive tool of quantitative measurement of myocardial fibrosis. We used T1mapping techniques to explore the hypothesis that diffuse myocardial fibr...
