چکیده
Flow velocity spectra of main arteries in 24 healthy adult subjects and 21 healthy aged subjects were transcutaneously studied using the directional ultrasonic Doppler technique. I) The instantaneous flow velocity spectrum is continuous throughout a pulse cycle, and intensified near the instantaneous maximum velocity, especially in the earlypart ofa pulse cycle. 2) No reverse flow phase is observed in the common carotid artery except for a small momentary reverse component. A reverseflow phase is always exhibited in thefemoral artery and in many occasions in the other main arteries; it follows the systolic forward flow phase. After the reverse flow phase the diastolic forward flow phase appears. In some subjects a second reverseflow phase and thirdforwardflow phase are successively observed. 3) The arterial bloodflow almost looks like a propagation ofa damped longitudinal oscillation. 4) At the time of conversion between theforwardflow phase and the reverseflow phase, bothforward and

Patterns of Brachial Arterial Blood Flow in Conscious Human Subjects with and without Cardiac Dysfunction By JAMES
IT has not been practical in the past to study phasic arterial blood flow patterns in the extremities of intact, unanesthetized human subjects. Although some measurements of phasic blood flow have been made in anesthetized patients undergoing major surgical procedures,'-6 and the velocity of aortic blood flow has been computed in human subjects using the pressure gradient technique,7 8 these st...

Accurate assessment of gestational age, fetal growth, and the detection of fetal and placental abnormalities are major benefits of sonography. Color Doppler can be used to assist in the identification of vascular architecture, detection of vascular pathology and visualization of blood flow changes associated with physiologic processes and disease states. The clinical applications of obstetrical...
متن کاملI-44: Color Doppler Imaging in Impotence
Sexual impotent is very common entity and define as inability to induce or maintaining penile erection during sexual intercourse. Studies reveals about 10% of men aged 40-70 years have complete, 17% have mild and 25% have moderate amount of erectile dysfunction. The sexual impotence has different etiology including psychogenic, neurogenic, arteriogenic and venogenic causes. Current studies reve...

Cervical Carotid Imaging With a ContinuousWave Doppler Flowmeter • A noninvasive technique for carotid arteriography using an ultrasonic directional Doppler flowmeter to image the carotid bifurcations is described. The technique uses a position sensing arm to hold the sharply focusing probe and translates the position of arterial flow onto an image storage screen. By multiple manual sweeps acro...
