چکیده

Recent evidence suggests that certain Fc gamma receptor (FcγR) alleles are genetic risk factors for infectious diseases. In this study, we evaluated FcγRIIa polymorphism in patients with brucellosis. In a casecontrol study, the frequency of two alleles and three genotypes for FcγRIIa were measured by PCR in 150 patients with brucellosis and 125 healthy controls. The H131 and R131 alleles were found in 133 (44.3%) and 167 patients (47.6%), respectively. The frequencies for the three genotypes (a/a, a/r, r/r) were 10 (6.7%), 113 (75.3%) and 27 (18%), respectively. There was no significant difference in the distribution of FcγRIIa genotypes and the two allelic forms between the patients and controls. Our study indicates that FcγRIIa polymorphism is not decisive for the acquisition of brucellosis. Jpn. J. Infect. Dis., 60, 196-197, 2007

بررسی ارتباط پلی مرفیسم FC? RIIA با بیماری بروسلوز

Background and purpose: Brucellosis is a major bacterial zoonosis of global importance. Effective host defence against brucella depends on immunoglobulin G-mediated phagocytosis of the bacteria and it has been shown that the FC RIIA polymorphism (FCγ RIIA-R131 vs FCγ RIIA –H131) determines the capacity of immunoglobulin G-mediated phagocytosis via this receptor. The aim of this study was to e...

Association of FCγRIIA (CD32) polymorphism with susceptibility to brucellosis

Background: Brucellosis is the major bacterial zoonoses of global importance caused by Brucella spps. FCγRIIA receptor plays a central role in phagocytosis of IgG2-opsonized bacteria. FCγRIIA exhibits allelic polymorphisms with different capacities for binding IgG2 and phagocytosis. Cells expressing Fc γ RIIa-H131, bind more efficiently to complexes of IgG2 than those expressi...

Polymorphism in the First Intron of Interferon-Gamma Gene (+874T→A) in Iranian Patients with Brucellosis

Background: Brucella is a gram-negative bacterium, causing acute and chronic infection in humans and animals. Cell-mediated immunity is the main protective immune response against Brucella spp. Activation of macrophages by IFN-γ and generation of reactive oxygen intermediates and nitric oxide are the main immunologic mechanisms responsible for control of Brucella infection. Objective: To invest...

Polymorphism of the Fcγ receptor IIA and malaria morbidity

Fc receptors (FcRs) are expressed on the surface of all types of cells of the immune system. They bind the Fc portion of immunoglobulin (Ig), thereby bridging specific antigen recognition by antibodies with cellular effector mechanisms. FcgammaRIIA, one of the three receptors for human IgG, is a low-affinity receptor for monomeric IgG, but binds IgG immune complexes efficiently. FcgammaRIIA is ...

Polymorphisms in Promoter Region of the Interferon - Gamma Receptor1 Gene and its Relation with Susceptibility to Brucellosis

Background & Objective: Brucellosis is one of the most prevalent bacterial zoonotic diseases which afflicts both humans and animals. Genetic factors play an important role in susceptibility to brucellosis. One of these factors is interferon-gamma (IFN-g), which is vital in the defense mechanism against infectious diseases such as brucellosis. The purpose of this study was to ev...
