decreased water holding capacity are believed to skin barrier dysfunction. It was surprising that we found positive correlation between TEWL and water holding capacity in AD. Conclusions: The results of TEWL and water holding capacity suggest that the barrier function of stratum corneum is impaired in AD patients. On the one hand, further studies should be required to explain the unexpected correlation between TEWL and water holding capacity. Both TEWL and water holding capasity didn’t correlate with AXR sweating volume. This appeared that the 2 factors are not under the influence of the AXR sweating at the same site.

Partially hydrolysed 100% whey-based infant formula and the prevention of atopic dermatitis: comparative pharmacoeconomic analyses.
Clinical trials have demonstrated that the risk of developing atopic dermatitis is reduced when using hydrolysed formulas to feed infants with a documented risk of atopy (i.e. an affected parent and/or sibling)when breastfeeding is not practised. However, little is known about the cost-effectiveness of using hydrolysed formulas. Consequently, economic analyses in 5 European countries (Denmark, ...

Hydrolyzed proteins are used worldwide in the therapeutic management of infants with allergic manifestations and have long been proposed as a dietetic measure to prevent allergy in at risk infants. The degree and method of hydrolysis, protein source and non-nitrogen components characterize different hydrolyzed formulas (HFs) and may determine clinical efficacy, tolerance and nutritional effects...
متن کاملA systematic review of the role of hydrolyzed infant formulas in allergy prevention.
OBJECTIVE To critically examine the published literature to determine whether feeding hydrolyzed infant formulas from birth has a role in allergy prevention. DATA SOURCES We identified data through a MEDLINE search using allergy prevention and infant formulas as indexing terms. The search was restricted to 1985 through the present, English-language articles, and human subjects. STUDY SELECT...

Proteins are polymers composed of 30 or more amino acids; some of them are essential dietary components, since they are not synthetized by human metabolic processes. They are crucial for healthy growth and development and influence major functions of the body. The infant’s first year is a critical time of rapid growth and development, which must be supported by a high rate of protein synthesis....
