Rendering of transparent optically anisotropic objects

چکیده
At the present time, computer graphics demonstrates a lot of achievements in physically correct rendering of opaque objects and optically isotropic transparent and translucent objects (such as glass, diamond, or water). This paper examines the current state of art in the algorithms for physically accurate calculation of images of 3D scenes including transparent optically anisotropic objects (feldspar, KDP, etc.). It should be noted that very little work has been made in this field, with the most important of it in this century. Only rendering of transparent optically anisotropic objects (without absorption) is considered here.

Rendering of Translucent Objects, Verification and Validation of Algorithms
An approach to verification and validation of algorithms that render transparent objects (media) is described. Rendering of transparent optically isotropic objects has been studied extensively. However, the papers devoted to optically anisotropic objects are few in number. The main goal of the present paper is to suggest a collaboration in creating and supporting an open database of tests. To p...
متن کاملDirty Glass: Rendering Contamination on Transparent Surfaces
Rendering of clean transparent objects has been well studied in computer graphics. However, real-world transparent objects are seldom clean—their surfaces have a variety of contaminants such as dust, dirt, and lipids. These contaminants produce a number of complex volumetric scattering effects that must be taken into account when creating photorealistic renderings. In this paper, we take a step...
متن کاملA Fast Rendering Technique of Transparent Objects and Caustics
Rendering refractive caustics from transparent objects on opaque objects is computationally intensive. This paper presents a fast rendering technique for transparent objects and refractive caustics due to transparent objects on the opaque object. To calculate the intensities of caustics, we set virtual planes around the opaque object and store the intensities of caustics on the virtual planes a...
متن کاملA Method for Fast Rendering of Caustics from Refraction by Transparent Objects
Caustics are patterns of light focused by reflective or refractive objects. Because of their visually fascinating patterns, several methods have been developed to render caustics. We propose a method for the quick rendering of caustics formed by refracted and converged light through transparent objects. First, in the preprocess, we calculate sampling rays incident on each vertex of the object, ...
متن کاملOrder Independent Transparency with Per-Pixel Linked Lists
This paper proposes a method for rendering scenes of both opaque and transparent objects. Transparency depends on the attenuation coefficient and the thickness of the transparent object we wish to render. To get the visible radiance, the volume rendering equation should be solved. Instead of marching a ray, we build a list that contains the intersection points of the ray and object surfaces. In...
