چکیده

Erosion/redeposition is examined for the sidewalls of a dissipative divertor using coupled impurity transport, charge exchange, and sputtering codes, applied to plasma solutions for the ITER design. A key issue for this regime is possible runaway self-sputtering, due to the effect of a low boundary density and nearly parallel field geometry on redeposition parameters. Net erosion rates, assuming finite self-sputtering, vary.with wall location, boundary conditions, and plasma solution, and are roughly of the following order. 200-2000 A / s for beryllium, 10-100 A / s for vanadium, and 0.3-3 A / s for tungsten.

Overview of the Alps Program

The US Advanced Limiter-divertor Plasma-facing Systems (ALPS) program is developing the science of liquid metal surface divertors for near and long term tokamaks. These systems may help solve the demanding heat removal, particle removal, and erosion issues of fusion plasma/surface interactions. ALPS combines tokamak experiments, lab experiments, and modeling. We are designing both static and fl...

Pfc/rr-92-10 an Evaluation of the Feasibility of Liquid Metal Divertors

The divertor technology has become the focus of concern for prospective steady state tokamak reactors such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). Namely, the imposed heat flux and particle flux conditions cast doubt on the feasibility of any solid surface divertor. Thus, the old idea of liquid metals (mainly lithium and gallium) as the divertor surface protective materi...

The effect of sand mulch on runoff and erosion control of the catchment surface

Due to population growth, global warming, changing precipitation patterns, and decreasing precipitation, water and soil are two of the most important human issues. Water and soil resources management in arid and semi-arid regions is one of the methods that can solve water and soil issues. Covering the soil surface with permeable natural materials can reduce water and wind erosion and evaporatio...

Multiple Solutions for Slip Effects on Dissipative Magneto-Nanofluid Transport Phenomena in Porous Media: Stability Analysis

In the present paper, a numerical investigation of transport phenomena is considered in electrically-conducting nanofluid flow within a porous bed utilizing Buongiorno’s transport model and Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg fourth-fifth order method. Induced flow by non-isothermal stretching/shrinking sheet along with magnetic field impact, dissipation effect, and slip conditions at the surface are...

Rayleigh Wave in an Initially Stressed Transversely Isotropic Dissipative Half-Space

The governing equations of a transversely isotropic dissipative medium are solved analytically to obtain the surface wave solutions. The appropriate solutions satisfy the required boundary conditions at the stress-free surface to obtain the frequency equation of Rayleigh wave. The numerical values of the non-dimensional speed of Rayleigh wave speed are computed for different values of frequency...
