Equilibrium Study between Condensed Phases by Isoplethic Thermal Analysis When a Miscibility Gap Is Observed

چکیده
Isoplethic thermal analysis was used to determine the solid-liquid-liquid equilibria in the ternary system water-sodium sulfatepiperidine. The changes in state observed on the thermogram recorded during the displacement in a quasi-binary section permit the identification of the different phases and the delimitation of the corresponding equilibrium domains. Two isotherms were established at 25°C and 40°C because these temperatures frame the peritectic decomposition of the sodium sulfate decahydrate. Miscibility gaps were completely delimited and each critical point was calculated. This study permitted to determine the optimal conditions for separating the organic phase by liquid-liquid extraction.

Comparison of Thermal Dispersion Effects for Single and two Phase Analysis of Heat Transfer in Porous Media
The present work involves numerical simulation of a steady, incompressible forcedconvection fluid flow through a matrix of porous media between two parallel plates at constanttemperature. A Darcy model for the momentum equation was employed. The mathematical model forenergy transport was based on single phase equation model which assumes local thermal equilibriumbetween fluid and solid phases. ...

The system 2,6-dimethylpyridine-water possesses peculiar phase properties. Three solid phases: C(7)H(9)N, H(2)O and C(7)H(9)N.H(2)O are mutually immiscible, and the liquid system shows a closed miscibility gap. However, the liquid system remains single-phase in the temperature range from the melting point up to 307 K. The present thermodynamic and IR spectroscopy studies showed that the hydroge...

We present a lattice model to study the equilibrium phase diagram of ordered alloys with one magnetic component that exhibits a low temperature phase separation between paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases. The model is constructed from the experimental facts observed in Cu32xAlMnx and it includes coupling between configurational and magnetic degrees of freedom that are appropriate for reprodu...
متن کاملTransient surface tension in miscible liquids.
Evidence of the existence of a transient surface tension between two miscible fluid phases is given. This is done by making use of a density matched free of gravity perturbations, binary liquid of isobutyric acid and water, which presents a miscibility gap and is studied by light scattering. The experiment is performed very near the critical point of the binary liquid, where the diffusion of ph...
