Implications for Solar Neutrino Oscillations from Super-Kamiokande and SNO Data

چکیده

Super-Kamiokande uses neutrino-electron elastic scattering to measure the recoil electron spectrum and zenith-angle dependence of solar B neutrinos. SNO has measured the B neutrino–deuteron charged-current reaction rate. The elastic scattering rate, spectrum and zenith-angle dependence in conjunction with the charged-current reaction rate favors active neutrino oscillations at large mixing angles by about 3σ over the no-oscillation hypothesis and small mixing angles. The analysis is independent of the absolute B and hep flux and assumes twoflavor oscillations described by mixing angle and mass difference. Two allowed regions at large mixing are found.

Solar Neutrino Precision Measurements using all 1496 Days of Super-Kamiokande-I Data

The results of the entire Super-Kamiokande-I solar neutrino data are presented. The measured interaction rate is 47±2% of the rate expected by the standard solar model and 133±5% of the rate implied by the SNO chargedcurrent interaction rate. There is no evidence for spectral distortion or a time dependent neutrino flux. Together with the rates of other experiments, the Super-Kamiokande results...

Astroparticle physics with solar neutrinos

Solar neutrino experiments observed fluxes smaller than the expectations from the standard solar model. This discrepancy is known as the "solar neutrino problem". Flux measurements by Super-Kamiokande and SNO have demonstrated that the solar neutrino problem is due to neutrino oscillations. Combining the results of all solar neutrino experiments, parameters for solar neutrino oscillations are o...

Implications of the Sno and the Homestake Results for the Borexino Experiment

Using the recent result of the SNO solar neutrino experiment, we have demonstrated in a model independent way that the contribution of Be and other medium energy neutrinos to the event rate of the Homestake experiment is 4σ smaller than the BP2000 SSM prediction. We have considered the implications of this result for the future BOREXINO experiment. The recently published first data of the SNO e...

Solar neutrino interactions: Using charged currents at SNO to tell neutral currents at Super-Kamiokande

In the presence of flavor oscillations, muon and tau neutrinos can contribute to the Super-Kamiokande (SK) solar neutrino signal through the neutral current process νμ,τ e − → νμ,τ e. We show how to separate the νe and νμ,τ event rates in SK in a model independent way, by using the rate of the charged current process νe d → p p e from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) experiment, with an a...

Present Status of Neutrino Mixing

A short review of the status of neutrino mixing and neutrino oscillations is given. The basics of neutrino mixing and oscillations is discussed. The latest evidences of neutrino oscillations obtained in the Super-Kamiokande and the SNO solar neutrino experiments and in the Super-Kamiokande atmospheric neutrino experiment are considered. The results of solar and atmospheric neutrino experiments ...
