چکیده
Neutropenic enterocolitis is a potentially life-threatening complication of malignancies and also the other neutropenic conditions. It characterized by typically clinical course of fever, diarrhoea and abdominal pain that may be localized to the right lower quadrant with radiological evidence of ileocecal inflamation. We present a case of an 9-year-old girl with neutropenic enterocolitis who managed successfully by medical treatment and show radiological findings consistent with enterocolitis.

Successful medical management of neutropenic enterocolitis (typhlitis) in a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
We report a case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia that was complicated by neutropenic enterocolitis (typhlitis) during the initial period of remission-induction chemotherapy. The patient's clinical symptoms resolved after aggressive treatment with intravenous fluids and electrolytes, nasogastric decompression, bowel rest, total parenteral nutrition, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and granulocyte co...
متن کاملMortal neutropenic enterocolitis in acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Neutropenic enterocolitis (NE) or typhlitis is a serious complication of anticancer therapy, especially in hematological malignancies. We describe a case of acute lymphoid leukemia presenting the early onset of a syndrome with the clinical features and specific radiological findings of NE during the neutropenic phase.

Bacillus cereus is increasingly being acknowledged as a serious bacterial pathogen in immunosuppressed hosts. We report a case of fatal B. cereus sepsis in a patient with newly diagnosed acute leukemia following resolving neutropenic enterocolitis. Gastrointestinal complaints are common during induction chemotherapy, yet some antimicrobial coverage suitable for generalized neutropenia is not op...

Neutropenic enterocolitis is a severe and potentially life-threatening complication that may affect patients undergoing chemotherapy for acute leukemia or lymphoma. These patients may develop systemic sepsis through bacterial or fungal translocation across the intestinal wall. In many cases neutropenic enterocolitis is confined to the cecum, but the entire colon is sometimes involved. Most pati...
متن کاملNeutropenic enterocolitis associated with Clostridium tertium.
A 15 year old boy being treated for relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia developed severe diarrhoea and abdominal pain which worsened despite empirical antibiotic treatment. A right hemicolectomy was performed. The caecum and ascending colon showed changes typical of neutropenic enterocolitis. Clostridium tertium was isolated from faeces, blood cultures, and from the resected gut wall, with n...
