Multi-Middleware Web Services

چکیده

A few years ago, integrating applications simply required putting the right middleware in place. Today, however, the proliferation of different middleware approaches and technologies has complicated matters. Application integration now implies middleware integration. Essentially, we need “middleware for middleware” that allows us to noninvasively integrate disparate middleware systems. The economic downturn of recent years has led many to question large and expensive “rip and replace” projects. Such projects, which attempt to homogenize the enterprise by ripping everything out and replacing it with the latest silver bullet, almost always fail. IT groups instead prefer to leave working systems in place and get them to talk to each other without changing them, regardless of which suppliers they come from, which technologies they employ, what languages they’re written in, or what protocols they speak.

Open Sensor Web Architecture: Stateful Web Services

As sensor networks become more pervasive there emerges a need for interfacing applications to perform common operations and transformations on sensor data. Web Services provide an interoperable and platform independent solution to these needs. A key challenge of using Web Services in this context is how to support ongoing sensor queries that persist over an extended period of time. In this pape...

QoS for Service-o

We propose a Service-oriented Middleware (SoM) that provides an upper level of middleware over rapidly emerging Web Services-based middleware to make it easier to develop complex multi-organizational business applications. Our approach primarily builds upon our experience in building distributed workflow management for multi-organizational processes. Effective and efficient Quality of Service (...

Middleware between OWL and FIPA Ontologies in the Semantic Grid Environment

Ontologies are an essential element of the semantic web and they can act as a foundation for semantic interoperability among the various distributed systems as to achieve the serviceoriented architectures. Ontologies provide a shared and universal knowledge of a domain that can be exchanged between communities and applications OWL (Web Ontology Language) is currently the W3C standard for provid...

Middleware Support for Complex and Distributed Security Services in Multi-tier Web Applications

The security requirements of complex multi-tier web applications have shifted from simple localized needs, such as authentication or authorization, to physically distributed but actually aggregated services, such as end-to-end data protection, non-repudiation or patient consent management. Currently, there is no support for integrating complex security services in web architectures, nor are app...

A Rule-based Middleware for Business Process Execution

While past research in service oriented computing has focused on the fairly static functional description and the operators of services the dynamic and flexible composition and collaboration of services in business processes in style of semi-autonomous multi-agent systems has not been as thoroughly explored. Executable business process description languages such as BPEL provide only limited exp...
