چکیده

Objective: Burst release of drugs occurs in a very short time compared to the entire sustained release process, yet it has not been specifically investigated in most of the work whereas our study aims the investigation of the burst release of antimicrobial agents from various collagen scaffolds and the release kinetics of antimicrobial agents from the collagen scaffolds. Materials and Methods: The extracted Type 1 Collagen from Bovine tendons is used for scaffold fabrication. The macro porous collagen scaffold is prepared by the CLRI protocol developed. The porous collagens scaffold is prepared by freeze drying method. Furthermore, the antimicrobial agents Triphala/Ciprofloxacin is physically conjugated and entrapment within the pores of the collagen scaffold. The in vitro release studies are carried out in Franz-type diffusion cells. The bacterial count in the granulation tissue is carried out in In Vivo studies. Results: The result concludes collagen dressings with burst release followed by controlled release effectively regenerate highly infected soft tissue. The collagen dressing provides burst release. Conclusion: To sum up, the collagen scaffold with burst release provides effective control of infection and better wound closure at the wound site. This investigation used to design the scaffold with burst release for eradication of infection and effective regeneration of skin at

Fabrication of Gelatin Scaffolds Using Thermally Induced Phase Separation Technique

Gelatin is considered as a partially degraded product of collagen and it is a biodegradable polymer which can be used to produce scaffolds for tissue engineering. Three-dimensional, porous gelatin scaffolds were fabricated by thermally induced phase separation and freeze-drying method. Their porous structure and pore size were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Scaffolds with differ...

Cell Population Kinetics of Collagen Scaffolds in Ex Vivo Oral Wound Repair

Biodegradable collagen scaffolds are used clinically for oral soft tissue augmentation to support wound healing. This study sought to provide a novel ex vivo model for analyzing healing kinetics and gene expression of primary human gingival fibroblasts (hGF) within collagen scaffolds. Sponge type and gel type scaffolds with and without platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF) were assessed in a...

Preparation of antibacterial electrospun Poly lactic-co–glycolic acid nanofibers containing Hypericum Perforatum with bedsore healing property and evaluation of its drug release performance

Skin drug delivery systems with controlled release are suitable means for the local transfer of pharmaceutical compounds to the damaged and healthy layers of skin. Nanofibrous membrane prepares uniform moisture in the wound environment with less accumulation of fluid secretion due to its variable pore size. Electrospinning takes advantage of using herbal extracts in the form of electrospun nano...
