چکیده

The peripheral nervous system is frequently involved in anti–neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)associated vasculitis (AAV), with typical presentations such as mononeuritis multiplex, distal sensorimotor polyneuropathy, and isolated cranial mononeuropathies. Here, we report a case of AAV with unusual presentation of predominant severe myalgias. The diagnosis of AAV was made by a muscle biopsy and positive ANCA.

Infective endocarditis mimics ANCA associated glomerulonephritis

Background: Sub-acute bacterial endocarditis (SBE) rarely presents with features of a small vessel vasculitis. Patients with SBE can also develop multiple serological abnormalities including ANCA. In this report, we present a case of infective endocarditis mimicked ANCA associated glomerulonephritis.Case presentation: A 57-year old male with a clinical picture of rapidly progressive renal failu...

Differentiation of Cocaine-Induced Midline Destructive Lesions from ANCA-Associated Vasculitis

Introduction: Cocaine-induced midline destructive lesions (CIMDL) are complications of regular nasal cocaine inhalation. CIMDL can mimic systemic diseases with positive anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA), such as granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA).   Case Report: In this article, we describe the case of a young woman who presented with nasal perforation induced by cocaine, al...

Marfan syndrome with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated systemic vasculitis presenting as severe anaemia and haematuria after the Bentall procedure.

One month previously, a 28-year old male underwent an emergency modified Bentall procedure because of Marfan syndrome with acute aortic dissection Stanford Class A. Computed tomography of the chest did not reveal severe graft stenosis of the anastomosis. To explore the cause of anaemia, renal dysfunction and macroscopic haematuria, the patient was tested for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody ...

Anca-associated Vasculitis and Complement System Activation

Small vessel vasculitides associated with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) are severe systemic diseases that may affect any organ. Increasing clinical and experimental evidence indicates that ANCA are causally involved in disease pathogenesis mainly through activation of neutrophils resulting in endothelial cell injury. Recent studies suggest a previously unsuspected but crucia...

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody vasculitis presenting with bilateral renal vein thrombosis

We report a case of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated necrotizing crescentic glomerulonephritis presenting with bilateral renal vein thrombosis and pulmonary emboli in a patient who also had a lupus anticoagulant and anti-cardiolipin antibodies. Although the link between venous thrombosis and ANCA vasculitis is well established, the coexistence of renal vein thrombosis is u...
